Sketch Saturday and Crafty Little Fairies

Evening, all! How is your weekend going? Mine has been a little odd, since my daughter moved to Dublin on Tuesday, and the place is much quieter!! I confess I did shed a tear or two when I was ironing her jeans and hoodie today!! However, it's so amazing that she is now able to get on with her life, since a year ago she started her chemo.

Enough of this maudlinity (is that a word?!) I made a card today while listening to a terrific cricket match - England lost to Sri Lanka, but it was a damn' close-run thing!

The darling image is by Lili of the Valley of course, and I coloured her with my Promarkers in bright, sunny colours to cheer myself up. The papers are from the 'Porcelain' collection by Basic Grey - I have finally screwed my courage to the sticking place and started using some of my older treasured papers.

The flower is by K & Co (Citronella collection) and the sentiment is from Hero Ats' 'Thanks a Bunch' set.

The sketch is an old Sketch Saturday one:

. It would be perfect for using up snippets, too!

I'm entering the following challenges:

Sketch Saturday using Sketch 227 29th September 2012

Fussy and Fancy Challenge whose theme is 'Outdoors'

Crafty Little Fairies whose theme is 'In the Garden.'

Thanks so much for looking, and have a happy Sunday!

A Flower!

Evening, all! While tidying the craft hovel yet again I came across some little 4 x 4 inch square cards. I also had some paper on my desk, left over from a previous card - this is from 'Bonnets and Bowties' by LotV which is the current freebie with "Simply Cards and Papercraft" magazine. They are such pretty papers, I have the original Nitwits digis, and the LotV paper pad, and now this freebie!!!!!

I had already die-cut a circle in the chequered piece, so it just needed a trim. The spotty paper is also a snippet, though I'm not sure where it's from. I raised the die-cut paper on foam pads (lots of them round the cut edge so it wouldn't sag!) and added the flower: this is 2 Prima flowers layered together, and the pink button is from stash.

Finally the sentiment is by Hero Arts from the Clear Design 'Messages' set, and I stamped it in Hero Arts Navy Shadow Ink. The tiny pearls were from Hobbycraft.

I'm entering The Snippet Playground with this!

I really like this one, it's very satisfying to use up stash!

Have a lovely weekend, everyone - though it's a Bank Holiday weekend in the UK, which traditionally means it will rain! Never mind, that's an excuse to stay at home crafting!

Thanks for looking!

Dream Valley Challenges #82 Things With Wings

Good afternoon! I hope everyone is having a relaxing weekend. We have sunshine in S-E Hertfordshire, what a difference it makes, everyone seems so cheerful when the sun shines!

Unfortunately I have been fighting off a cold this past few days and it's now Cold - 1, Maggie - 0! I am mainlining Beecham's powders, they taste vile!!

Enough medical talk! There's another lovely challenge at Dream Valley and it's Things With Wings - very suitable, I think, with the birds flying about building nests.

Our fabulous sponsor is Kenny K and the prize is 3 digis!

I used Devilish Donna for my card, which is made for a Goth chick of my acquaintance!

I coloured her with Spectrum Noirs, glittered her wings, and then cut her out.

The card base is made with purple centura pearl, embossed with a big Spellbinders M-bossibilities folder. I stamped a polka dot border with an MFT stamp called Large Scale Backgrounds - I tried to do an ombre effect. The sentiment on the banner is from Paper Smooches' Sentiment Sampler stamp set, and I heat embossed it in white, then sponged Dusty Concord and Milled Lavender Distress Inks over it.

At the edge of the banner is a strip of black glitter card punched with a Fiskars border punch. I wound some grey embroidery floss around the card, and the metal charm below the bow was a gift from my daughter.

Do fly over to see the lovely creations my teamies have made, and then join in!

Thanks for looking, and have a lovely week!

The Squirrel and the Fox Challenge #70 Let's hear It For The Girls!

Hi, guys! We have a cracking Challenge for you this time at The Squirrel and the Fox - Let's Hear it For The Girls! That is, make something for the Ladies, whether it's for a child, a teen, a Grannie - we're celebrating The Ladies here!

And, as an exclusive, one-time-only event, we are running this over TWO Challenges! So you have twice as long to enter!

Our amazing sponsor is once again the fabulous Make It Crafty. There's a prize of a $10 voucher for the digi store - AND if you use a MiC image you'll have a chance at a bonus prize!!!

Isn't this lady so elegant?! I coloured her gown in shades of blue Promarker (her ruched overskirt looks grey in the picture, but it's actually grey-blue.)

I used Spellbinders Exquisite Labels 11 for the diecut background, and layered a labels 29 on top - I love how different Spellbinders go together so well!

The ribbon is seam binding, and the flowers are from stash. The sentiment reads 'Fill your days with joy and laughter' and I think it was a magazine freebie. It's mounted on a Sb 'Fancy Tag.'

All the blue card is Centura Pearl, it has such a lovely sheen!

Please have a look at my teamies' fab makes, and then have a go yourselves!

Thanks for looking!

Dream Valley Challenge #81 Anything goes!

Good evening, all! If you're looking for my DT card for The Squirrel and the Fox please scroll down to the previous post. Ta.

Now it's time for Dream Valley Challenges and it's one that everyone enjoys - Anything Goes!

Our sponsor is the terrific Robyn's Fetish

Robyn's Fetish Digital Stamps And More is proud to sponsor this challenge.
Robyn's Fetish Digital Stamps And More, a division of I Did It Creations, was created and is
owned by Robyn Weinrib. Robyn offers a wonderful variety of digital stamps and digital papers, designed to meet the needs of all digital paper crafting addicts for every occasion.
Robyn’s Fetish Digital Stamps And More is happy to award 3 digital stamps of the winner’s choice to the winner of this challenge.

I didn't use a sponsor image this time (due to being even more ditsy than usual!) Instead I dug out a cute stamp from The Greeting Farm

I coloured Princess Anya with Spectrum Noirs and fussy-cut round the image. The hearts on her dress and crown are Glossy Accented, and her hem has been stickled.

The paper is once again from the 'Floral Pavilion' stack by First Edition. The sentiment is from the Paper Smooches 'Sentiment Sampler' stamp set, and I used a Fiskars scallop punch on the red border.

The butterflies are made with a Martha Stewart punch, edged with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink, and some green gems from stash. Finally I rounded the corners with a We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper!

Please go over and see what my teamies have done, you'll be inspired!

Thanks for looking, my lovelies!

The Squirrel and the Fox #69 Mother's Day

Good morning! I hope you're all enjoying your weekend!

It's The Squirrel and the Fox Challenge time once again! Our theme this time is Mother's Day

Our sponsor is Doodle Pantry do have a look at their lovely digis! There are even some freebies so you can 'try before you buy'!

On my card I used Rose Bloom.

I used Spectrum Noir pens to colour two of the images, and cut out the flower from one and decoupaged it on top of the other, using foam pads. Then the whole image was added to a mat of white card and green card die-cut with a Spellbinders Stately Circles die, and also added with foam pads.

The background paper is from the 'Floral Pavilion' stack by First Edition, the dots and roses are all glossy - very pretty! The ribbon is from stash. The sentiment is by Lili of the Valley. I added some Cotton Candy Stickles to the flowers on the sentiment and also in the main image.

I'm pleased with how it turned out - the rose was a joy to colour, the shading already on the image was such a help for putting down the darkest ink!

I hope you'll take a look at my teamies' creations, they are sure to inspire you to join in with your own Mother's Day creation!

Thanks for looking!

Wedding Card!

Hi, guys! I hope your week is going well. Mine is just.... going! Surely it was Monday yesterday? I know I've been busy with STUFF this last few days, and lots of bags of STUFF have gone down to Oxfam, but I look round my house and it still seems chaotic! I'm sure everyone else has this problem!!

My neighbour's lovely daughter was married recently - the whole family is remarkably good looking, and the bride looked as if she'd just stepped out of the pages of 'Vogue'! So I knew I wanted to do something a little bit special for her.

This card is made with the Spellbinders 'Butterfly Corner' die and is based on one made by the inspiring Christina Griffiths. The video instructions are here

Here is the back:

I used Centura Pearl card throughout. I embossed the front and back pieces with a Spellbinders Butterflies Impressability which shows up better irl. The corner die cuts were all covered in white glitter. The one on the back makes a pocket, which holds a die-cut label with a greeting written on it.

The sparkly organza ribbon is from stash. The transparent resin rose on the knot of the bow, and also the butterfly embellishments, all came free with magazines. I'd been hoarding them for many months lol!

I am so pleased how it all came together! I did a run-through with ordinary card to practise making the base - Christina's instructions are so straightforward that it was quite simple!

Thanks so much for looking! I'm sorry I've been a Bad Blogger recently, there has been a lot going on - nothing exciting, unfortunately (Tom Hiddleston has not yet come to carry me away to Valhalla!) just lots of boring niggly things. But that's just life, ain't it?!!

I hope you're all looking forward to an ace weekend!
