Dream Valley Challenge 54 - Birthday!
Good afternoon, all! If you're looking for my DT post for The Squirrel and the Fox, please scroll down.
It's time for another Dream Valley Challenges (where does the time go?!) and this fortnight's challenge is nice and easy: Happy Birthday! Yep, we'd like to see your birthday cards.
Our fab sponsor is wonderful Bugaboo Stamps and one lucky winner will have a $21 voucher to spend at their online store!
Now, I happen to love Bugaboo, their images were the first I ever downloaded when I decided to dip my toe in the water and investigate digis. Unfortunately I can't find this Spaceship image on the website, but there are so many other gorgeous images! Just be prepared if you visit them and make a big mug of tea first, you'll be engrossed for a long time!
This is a shadow box card, as shown in this month's 'Quick Cards Made Easy' magazine by the talented Jules. The instructions are illustrated, and so clear - if my description is confusing, get your mitts on the mag!
The base is made with 2 strips of blue core'dinations card, each 15.5cm by 11cm. With the card in landscape mode, score down the sides at 1.5cm and 2.5cm. Die-cut an aperture (any shape) in the middle of one of the pieces of card. Then concertina-fold the score lines, and glue the outer sides together.
I hope you can see the box effect. I stuck papers from Bo Bunny's 'Blast off!' paper pad on the card, on the front and the inside, before die-cutting the circle in the front piece and then gluing the outermost sides together. I used Speccies on the image and stickled the stars in gold and distressed the edges with Broken China Distress Ink, then glued it on the back part behind the die-cut.
Even my hubby likes this one, and normally he is rather disparaging of cute cards!
I hope you'll all zoom across to Dream Valley and have a look at my teamies' creations. Remember, it doesn't have to be a card!
Thanks for looking! (And I hope this scheduled post appears at the right time!)
Have a great week!
