CRAFT Challenge #429 Christmas

Hi, guys! We have our regular Christmas theme at CRAFT Challenge!

This cute Santa is from the Christmas Junk Drawer set by Melonheadz Clip Art.

The papers are from an old Papermania pad. I used a Memory Box Frosty Border die for the snowflakes and covered them in Glamour Dust. Santa's fur trim has been stickled.

I hope all is well with you! This weekend we are visiting beautiful Shropshire for a family reunion, and the Irish contingent are flying in tonight, so I've been madly cleaning and tidying! We have a travel cot which is such a pain to fold up that we tend to leave it in the bedroom, where it gets filled with blankets, pillows etc. So now I have to put them all away in the right cupboards!! Serves me right for being lazy!!!

Anyway, I hope you all have a great weekend, too! Thanks for looking!

The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge #12

Hiya! The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge no 12 is here! As usual the theme is Anything Goes for Christmas.

I used a die that came with a magazine to do some card inlaying:

I backed the image with silver mirri card, which shows through the star and the windows, and added dots of a white gel pen to make more stars in the sky.

Inlay die-cutting is a bit fiddly, and you have to be careful not to lose any of the smaller pieces, but I really like it!

Have a good weekand thanks for looking!

Dream Valley Challenge #161 Christmas Animals.

Good morning! To cheer up your week we have a great new Challenge at Dream Vlley which is Christmas Animals.

I used a small Hero Arts cling stamp called Small Fancy Reindeer - I love his curly antlers!

I used a gorgeous die from Joy!crafts which sadly is no longer available, to echo the curly antlers. The starry ribbon-threader is a very old Marianne die, and I used silver ribbon from Hobbycraft to thread through the holes. I added some of the left-over stars as embellishments. The paper is from stash.

Go and see the fun cards that my teamies have made to inspire you! There is a fabulous variety!

Thanks for looking, and have a good week!

My Time to Craft #352 Hats &/or Bags

It's Saturday! And it's not raining (yet!) Yippee!!!

I had my 3-monthly check up post-chemo yesterday, and all seems well, thank goodness! :)

Now on to our new Challenge at My Time to Craft is Hats and Bags. You can use either or both on your creation.

I can't find a link to the gorgeous Sarah Kay image, sadly, though if you Google you'll find some places that still sell her stamps. NOT, of course, digi copies of her images on Pinterest or elsewhere, those have been stolen and are why she has stopped doing stamps, I'm told.

Anyway, I coloured her in Copics and added Glamour Dust to her ribbons. I used a Joy!Crafts Heart die 6002/0381 for the doily and their Leaf die 6002/0493 for the leaves. The cheesecloth is from stash, as are the flowers and the ribbon. The lace is from The Ribbon Girl. The papers are All About Me by Prima.

Go and see what my inventive teamies have done with the Challenge, they will inspire you!

Thanks for looking!

CRAFT Challenge #428 Anything Goes!

Hiya! We have a fab theme at CRAFT Challenge this week - Anything Goes!

I have made a birthday card for a friend who supports Arsenal Football Club, whose colours are red and white.

The fun image is Dunderton Academicals. I coloured him with Copics and added Glossy Accents to his glasses, and went around the edges with Pumice Stone Distress Ink. I added a frame made with an old MFT Die-namics die, which I distressed with Vintage Photo, then added some streaks of Delicata Gold ink to give the impression of an old picture frame with worn gilding. It shows better irl.

The background paper is from an old pad by (I think) Cosmo Cricket - the label has come off! The sentiment is by Clearly Besotted. The little banner stamp is from my first kit from Love From Lizi - all my other banner stamps were too big, but this one was perfect!

I had a lot of fun making this - even though my team is Arsenal's North London rival, Tottenham Hotspur - and I wonder what he'd look like done in sepia, like a very old photo!

Our sponsor this week is Doctor Digi's House of Stamps.

Have a go at our Challenge, there's lots of inspiration from my gorgeous teamies on the blog!

CRAFT Challenge #427 Colour Combo

Good morning! It's been such a wet week here in the UK, but to cheer us all up we have a gorgeous Colour Combo Challenge at CRAFT.

I found some old papers by Kaisercraft which include turquoise, green, pink and cream, and added brown in the image.

The sweet image is Macy Boo from Lacy Sunshine. The photo doesn't really show that her dress and stockings are coloured in aqua and green. Her shoes are brown, and all the pink trimmings have added sparkle.

I cut the mat with a Spellbinders die, and the butterflies are cut with a Martha Stewart punch, in pale and darker pink, layered together, with pearls along the bodies. The sentiment is LotV.. The ribbon is from stash.

Our sponsor is Lacy Sunshine Stamps

Have a look at my teamies' inspiring work using these colours!

My Time to Craft #351 Sketchy Time!

Hello, my dearios! My, what a gloomy, grey, rainy day! Time to stay indoors and craft, I think!

For your inspiration, at My Time to Craft! we have this gorgeous sketch:

Lots of lovely layers!

The sketch is ideal for using this lacy Tattered Lace die (sadly it seems to be out of print) because it's quite large. The papers are from a pad that's lost its front - I think they are Crate Paper.

I added swags cut from a scrap of pearlised paper, and the ribbon was from a dress! The sentiment is by Clearly Besotted, now also out of print, sadly.

Do go and see the lovely varitions on the sketch produced by my teamies!

Thanks for looking and have a good weekend!

CRAFT Challenge #426 Summer

At CRAFT Challenge our new theme is Summer.

One of the good things about being on the Church Flower Arranging Team is seeing the different varieties of blooms on sale in each season. We work to a strict budget, so the seasonal flowers are often the cheapest - just like fruit'n'veg! To me, Summer means Roses, so I have made a card with a 'flower arrangement' style image by Bugaboo stamps which features roses, this is Rose Watering Can.

I made a Shaker Card. I added Glossy Accents to the watering can, and it shows even under the acetate. The sunshine-yellow paper is from stash.

Our sponsor is the fabulous, funny and witty Bugaboo Stamps who have a sale on until the end of July!

Have a look at my teamies' fab summer creations, they will make you smile!

The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge DT #11

We have just had a lovely long weekend in Co Dublin to celebrate my grandson's first birthday. There was a party on Saturday which was really good fun - and we had sunshine!

Now we're home again there is a heap of washing to be done, of course, and it's a grey and drizzly day. Today will be a stay indoors and craft day, I think!!

It's already time for Challenge 11 at The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge where the theme is always Anything Goes.

Have you started your Christmas cards yet? There's only 5 months to go!!!!!

In my never-ending attempts to tidy my craft hovel I often come across supplies I'd forgotten about, and that's how I found this Tonic Studios die set, which sadly seems to be unavailable.

I layered white card on gold mirri card, glueing everything straight down so it won't be too bulky to post. I added a small stamped Christmas tree in the centre, from an old set by Lawn Fawn called 'Peace Joy Love.'

Then I did one in silver card on pearlised blue to see what it looked like reversed:

I am rather pleased with them both!

Do go and be inspired by my Holly and Ivy teamies and have a go!

CRAFT Challenge #425 Christmas

When you read this I will be on the way to Dublin to celebrate my grandson's first birthday! I hope I get the scheduling right!

It's time for our regular Christmas theme at CRAFT Challenge.
I have used an adorable pre-coloured Elf by Melonheadz from the Christmas Bobbleheadz Clip Art set.

I used papers from 'Pink Christmas' which is an old Papermania pad. The holly die-cuts are made with a Marianne Holly Branches die and the glitter snowflakes are from the old Frosty Border die by Memory Box. I added red stickles for the holly berries.

The sentiment is from an old Hero Arts sentiment set, and is gold-embossed. The ribbon is from stash. I added stickles to the Elf's hat and Glossy Accents to his boots.

Our sponsor is Melonheadz

Thanks for looking, and enjoy your weekend!

My Time to Craft #350 In the Garden.

Hiya! I hope your weekend is going well! Maybe you're enjoying a relaxing time In the Garden which would be a wonderful coincidence as that is our new theme at My Time to Craft!

I am not a gardener, my awesome super-power is to kill plants, sadly, but I do like sitting out with a g'n't admiring the flowers that my hubby tends so succesfully! And I like colouring in images of flowers and of garden creatures!

This image is an old stamp by Lili of the Valley and is sadly unavailable. The papers are from stash and the ribbon was a RAK from my daughter.

Thanks for looking!

CRAFT Challenge #424 Thank you (Teacher)

(To see my post for The Holly and Ivy Challenge, please scroll down.)

Good morning! I hope you're all keeping well! At CRAFT Challenge this week we would like to see Thank you creations, with the option of making something for a teacher, since it's nearly the end of term!

I made my card some time ago, and it has already been posted, so I hope I can remember the details!!

The image is Just to Say Freebie from Scrappers' Delights. The papers are from stash and the corner stickers are from Paperchase. The 'Thanks' is cut with a very old MFT Die-namics die, from purple holographic card, and the 'teacher' label is handwritten.

Our sponsor is Scrap N Dipity who are new to me - have a look!

The prize is 3 digis from the shop!

Have a look at my teamies' gorgeous creations to get an idea of Scrap N Dipity's quirky style!

Thanks for looking, now I'm off to play a bit more of my new videogame: I have a Wraith to hunt so that a small child will no longer have nightmares! Then I have some ironing to do.....

The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge #10 Always Anything Goes

I'm sorry this post is late, I thought I had scheduled it! I have been playing a new videogame and forgot to check! Ooops!

There's a new Challenge at The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge.

This cool dude is Cool Claud by High Hopes Stamps. I added Glossy Accents to his shades and Icicle Stickles to the snow. The paper is an old one from Papermania.

CRAFT Challenge #423 Sketch

Good morning! It's Thursday! That means two exciting things: it's nearly the weekend AND there's a new Challenge at CRAFT Challenge!

This week we have a fabulous Sketch created by our lovely and talented Aunty Sue.

So versatile!

I made a birthday card for a bloke.

The fun image is Frog on a Log from sponsor DRS Designs. I coloured him with Copics and added Glossy Accents to his eyes. I cut him out with a Die-namics Zig-zag Stitched Circle die, then distressed the edges with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink. The butterfly sticker is from stash.

The papers are all from the Snippets Drawer and the ancient paper raffia ribbon is from stash as are the star stickers. The silver-embossed sentiment is from an old Hero Arts Messages set.

Go and see the gorgeous creations my teamies have made using the sketch, and join in!

A Thank you card.

Hi, guys! I spent a wonderful weekend in Oxford staying with a schoolfriend recently, and made this card for her.

I used an old wooden stamp by Funstamps, which I gold-embossed and coloured with Copics - carefully, because alcohol ink can affect embossing. I layered it on pearlescent blue card and foam-mounted it. The paper is from the 'Soleil' pad by Basic Grey.

Thanks for looking, and I hope you're all having a good week.

My Time to Craft! #349 Christmas in July.

Good morning, all! I hope you're looking forward to a great weekend!

Q: What did Big Ben say to the Leaning Tower of Pisa?

A: I've got the time if you've got the inclination!

(From Timekeepers by Simon Garfield.)

Our new Challenge at My Time to Craft is Christmas in July. Yes, another Christmas card - I've been making quite a few recently, and it's always satisfying to see the pile of Christmas cards growing taller!

Recently I have been going through my older stamps and came across some cuties from the much-missed Whiff of Joy.

This is one of the adorable Gnome stamps by Norma Fickel, it's Wee with Christmas Tree. I added Glossy Accents to the star and Xmas red stickles to the baubles. I cut out the image with a Spellbinders Labels Fourteen die and before removing the edges I distressed the edge with Tea Die Distress Ink. The snowflakes were cut from silver glitter card with another Spellbinders die which is positively ancient!!

The papers are from an old Papermania pack and the ribbon is from stash. The silver-embossed sentiment is from Lil' Inkers' All the Christmas You'll Ever Need stamp set.

I've had a lovely trip down memory lane while sorting through my stamps, I'm determined to use them more often! My stash diet has been going quite well, though I have recently re-stocked on card bases and envelopes. We are saving for a Special Holiday next year for our Ruby Wedding Anniversary, it's always better to have a specific purpose in mind while saving, I think!!!

Go and see my teamies' creations, and get your Christmas on! There's only 6 months to go! *ducks*

CRAFT Challenge #422 Add Ribbon and Sparkle

Good morning! I hope you are all having a good week. After several days of very hot and sunny weather we have suddenly got cold breezes and drizzle. Flaming June, eh? I just hope next week will be fine, as we have our annual Teddy Bears' Picnic at the Toddler Group that I help to run, and it's so much nicer to have it in the Church grounds rather than the hall!

In the meantime, we have a new Challenge at CRAFT Challenge which is to Add Ribbon and Sparkle.

When I saw this gorgeous Festive Flamingo I knew I had to make her into a Christmas card for a lovely friend who does Ice Dancing - yes, the same sport as Torvill and Dean! (And if you're too young to remember their amazing record-breaking Olympic win dancing to Ravel's 'Bolero' here is a youtube link. Awesome!

Anyway, I coloured the Flamingo with Promarkers. Her hat is glittered with gold Glamour Dust and there is Glossy Accents on her blades and the string of lights around her neck (though they don't show well in the photo. Where's David Bailey when you need him to photograph your card, eh?)

The paper is from an ancient Papermania pad called 'Pink Christmas.' The pink ribbon is from stash. The gold-embossed sentiment is by Paper Smooches' Christmas Sampler - so useful! The gems are from stash. I also used a We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper to round the corners.

Our fab sponsor this week is Digital Delights - seriously, if you haven't come across them before, do go and look at the delightful digis on the site! Or join the Challenge, and you might win some digis!

Do skate over to the Challenge Blog and take a look at the gorgeous sparkly inspiration that my teamies have made for you!

Then maybe look at Torvill and Dean on Youtube: they were absolutely magical!

The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge #9

Hiya! We have a new Challenge at The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge! As usual, it's Anything Goes!

I found some old papers from Nitwits' Homespun Holiday Collection which came pre-printed with a magazine some years ago. I have been watching videos on Youtube on using up 6x6 paper pads and was inspired by Jess Crafts to have a go.

Very simple, quick cards, using paper, a trimmer and glue! All I added was glitter on Santa's fur hat and Glossy Accents on the Snowman's nose. Then I made two more:

I'll be adding to these until the papers are used up, then give them to my Church to sell.

I think sometimes it's good to make sets of simple cards, I feel very accomplished when I've made a nice stack of them! Also, I highly recommend Jess Crafts on Youtube - very inspiring!

Thanks for looking, and have a good week!

Dream Valley Challenges #159 Bling, Lace and Ribbon

Hiya! I hope you're all keeping well. I had a great weekend in Oxford at a school reunion, which was so much fun! There were a lot of middle-aged ladies giggling like schoolgirls! And also wine - which I must reassure you was not available when I was actually a pupil! (What the teachers got up to I'm not qualified to say!!!)

Now it's time for another Challenge at Dream Valley and our theme is Bling, Lace and Ribbon.

I used a gorgeous freebie, Lady's Shoe from Sponsor Beccy's Place.

I cut out the shoe and added it with foam pads to a mat cut with a Spellbinders Elegant Ovals die. The lace and ribbon are from The Ribbon Girl. The pearls and the pearl-and-gem heart are from stash. The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and I covered them with gold Glamour Dust. The chipboard sentiment is from Noor Design and came in one of their gorgeous kits.

I had a lot of fun with this card! My teamies have made some gorgeous inspiration for you, do have a look!

CRAFT Challenge #421 Animals

Good morning, all! I hope you're all well - it's not long until the weekend, hurrah!

Since it's Thursday we have a new theme at CRAFT Challenge and this time it's Animals.

I have made a birthday card especially for a very sweet lad who comes to the Toddler Club that I help at, he will be 2 next month. (Already! I remember when he was a tiny baby!!)

The cute image is Birthday Monkey from our sponsor All Dressed Up Stamps. Like every one of Wendy's stamps, this is adorable!

I used a Spellbinders Wonky Rectangles die to cut the mat behind the image. The papers are snippets from my scraps drawer. The number 2 came from a magazine freebie, and I heat-embossed it in silver. The Lawn Fawn sentiment is also heat-embossed in silver.

Have a look at my teamies' creations, they have done a wonderful job and will inspire you to join in with our challenge!

My Time to Craft! #348 Summertime.

Eek! I'm so sorry that I'm late posting this! A busy few days with the Irish Contingent meant I totally forgot. Wot a plonker! (My grandson is adorable, but that's no consolation for you guys!)

Our theme at My Time to Craft! is Summertime! Ice cream! The seaside! Sunshine! Scorchio! Torrential rain! (Well, maybe not the latter, I hope!)

This is one of a pair of birthday cards that I made for a friend's twin daughters:

The image is a very old wooden stamp by Penny Black, and sadly it's out of print. The paper is from an ancient pad that was a magazine freebie. The mat is cut with Spellbinders' Floral Ovals die, and the sentiment is by Lili of the Valley. The stickers are from Paperchase.

I have been keeping to my 'stash diet' as you can tell - I'm trying to use up stuff, which is why so often what I show is no longer available. Apologies, I know it can be frustrating! However, if I don't make the effort I'll slowly be driven out of my craft hovel by the sheer quantity of stuff! I think I have a desk in there, under the heaps of paper, magazines, cardstock etc!!!

Pop over to The Blog and admire the inspiration that my teamies have made!

I have used the adorable Sunshine by Star Stampz.

The flourishes are cut with an old Magnolia die, and the lace and ribbon and flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.

CRAFT Challenge #419 Inspired by a Film.

Good morning! We have a new Challenge at CRAFT and this week it's Inspired by a Film.

When I first saw this image from sponsor Lacy Sunshine I thought of one of my favourite films, Curse of the Golden Flower which is a melodrama set in Ancient China, and which is gorgeous!

However, the girl in the image is definitely Japanese, so instead I'll link to The Mikado

The papers are snippets, the ribbon and shell embellies are from stash. The image is Koi Fish Dreamer

Our sponsor this week is: Lacy Sunshine

My Time to Craft #347 Down on the Farm

Eek! I'm late! Apologies! I really must learn that writing a 'To Do' list is useless if I don't do what's on the list! D'oh!

Anyway, our new Challenge at My Time to Craft! is Down on the Farm so we'd like to see Farm animals - horses, pigs, sheep, chickens, cows - or a tractor!

I made this Get Well card for a friend undergoing an operation. The cow is purple (and I'll explain why later) and is from Paper Smooches' Chubby Chums stamp set. Such fun images! The flowers and mushrooms and snail are from Lawn Fawn's Gleeful Gardens set. The 'Get Well' is from Sentiment Sampler by Paper Smooches and the 'sooooon' is made with stickers from my stash.

So why a Purple Cow? Well, Gelett Burgess wrote this silly poem:

I never saw a purple cow
I never hope to see one
But this I'll tell you anyhow,
I'd rather see than be one.

Then Carolyn Wells wrote some delicious parodies of well-known poems on the same subject. Take a look! Even if you don't know the originals (and there are some that I don't know at all) they are still very funny!

The Purple Cow Parodies

I hope you enjoy them!

CRAFT Challenge #418 Recipe

Hi, everyone! I hope you're having a good Thursday. I have been putting away the winter clothes - my Grannie used to quote 'Cast Not a Clout Till May Be Out' and since it's June 1st it seemed appropriate!

We have a fab Recipe at CRAFT Challenge this week.

For my card I used the gorgeous Charmant by Rick St Dennis. I love his portrait digis they are so elegant.

The Three Papers are from an old Papermania pad, they are brighter in real life. The Two Ribbons (or 1 ribbon and 1 ricrac!) are from stash and the gold Glitter is Glamour Dust. The gold-embossed sentiment is by Lili of the Valley.

Our Sponsor is Rick St Dennis MFA

Dream Valley #157 More Than One Fold

Hi, guys! I hope all is well with you. This Bank Holiday weekend we were visited by our children and both grandchildren, which was lovely! The house is very quiet now.....

Time for a new Challenge at Dream Valley which is to make something with More than One Fold. I made an easel card.

The adorable image is Springtime by All Dressed Up stamps. So sweet! I added butterflies cut with a die by Joy! Crafts which I can't find to link to, sadly. There are pearls along the butterfly bodies and also in the corners. The stopper is made with strips of card and papers, gold-embossed with a Lawn Fawn Scripty Saying sentiment. The ribbon is from stash.

We have two sponsors for this Challenge:

Oddball Art and

All Dressed Up.

CRAFT Challenge #417 Father's Day/Male

Good morning! I hope you are all keeping well. Our new CRAFT Challenge is to make something for Father's Day or for the blokes in our lives!

I used The Dragon and the Knight for my Father's Day card, it's such a cute image! I used a Woodware corner punch to decorate the corners. The background paper is from an old magazine freebie.

The DAD die-cuts are made with an old Die-namics alphabet die. The silver card I wanted to use was too bright, so I covered a scrap of card with several layers of silver embossing powder and used that instead.

Our sponsor this week is:

Doctor Digi's House of Stamps

and our Sponsor for Star of the Month is:

Star Stampz

Now I'm off to do a huge tidy up, as both the grandchildren are coming to visit and I must move stuff out of the reach of little hands! Wish me luck, I'm going in!

Thanks for looking, and have a fun weekend!

My Time to Craft Challenge #326 Sketchy Time!

Hello, me dearios! I hope you're all having a good weekend, whether at work or at play!

Our new Challenge at My Time to Craft! is this fabulous Sketch by Jo!

Isn't it great? Just perfect for a card I wanted to make for a friend of my daughter's, who has just had a bonny, bouncing baby boy!

I used the adorable Butterfly Baby by Krista Smith, now available in rubber from Little Darlings Rubber Stamps. Too darn' cute!

I coloured him with Copics, and slathered Icicle Stickles over his wings. I distressed the edge with Broken China Distress ink, and did the same with the mat, which is cut with a Spellbinders Heart Circles Die. (The link is to the main Spellbinders site, Google the die to find local sources.)

The paper is a snippet, I'm not sure who it's by. The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts, the leaves are cut from a snippet of green card using a Woodware punch. I glittered the flowers with Glamour Dust. The sentiments are from an old 'Baby' set by American Crafts, and stamped in 'Stargazer' pigment ink from Mama Elephant. I love that colour!

I used my glue gun to adhere the flowers, since the card is off to the Republic of Ireland - aren't those little threads of glue that appear when using a glue gun annoying? I spent ages carefully removig them! I need more practice.

Go and see the lovely variations on the sketch that my fab teamies have made, they are so inspiring!
