CRAFT Challenge #421 Animals

Good morning, all! I hope you're all well - it's not long until the weekend, hurrah!

Since it's Thursday we have a new theme at CRAFT Challenge and this time it's Animals.

I have made a birthday card especially for a very sweet lad who comes to the Toddler Club that I help at, he will be 2 next month. (Already! I remember when he was a tiny baby!!)

The cute image is Birthday Monkey from our sponsor All Dressed Up Stamps. Like every one of Wendy's stamps, this is adorable!

I used a Spellbinders Wonky Rectangles die to cut the mat behind the image. The papers are snippets from my scraps drawer. The number 2 came from a magazine freebie, and I heat-embossed it in silver. The Lawn Fawn sentiment is also heat-embossed in silver.

Have a look at my teamies' creations, they have done a wonderful job and will inspire you to join in with our challenge!

My Time to Craft! #348 Summertime.

Eek! I'm so sorry that I'm late posting this! A busy few days with the Irish Contingent meant I totally forgot. Wot a plonker! (My grandson is adorable, but that's no consolation for you guys!)

Our theme at My Time to Craft! is Summertime! Ice cream! The seaside! Sunshine! Scorchio! Torrential rain! (Well, maybe not the latter, I hope!)

This is one of a pair of birthday cards that I made for a friend's twin daughters:

The image is a very old wooden stamp by Penny Black, and sadly it's out of print. The paper is from an ancient pad that was a magazine freebie. The mat is cut with Spellbinders' Floral Ovals die, and the sentiment is by Lili of the Valley. The stickers are from Paperchase.

I have been keeping to my 'stash diet' as you can tell - I'm trying to use up stuff, which is why so often what I show is no longer available. Apologies, I know it can be frustrating! However, if I don't make the effort I'll slowly be driven out of my craft hovel by the sheer quantity of stuff! I think I have a desk in there, under the heaps of paper, magazines, cardstock etc!!!

Pop over to The Blog and admire the inspiration that my teamies have made!

The snowflakes are cut from glitter paper with a Cheery Lynn Laced Pine Snowflake die. The Jingle Bell Border is Memory Box die.

Our sponsor it the fab Paper Nest Dolls

The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge #8

Hi guys! It's already our 8th Challenge at The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge! As usual the theme is Anything Goes, as long as it's Christmas.

This cutie is Christmas Winston by Digistamp Boutique.

I used papers from stash, and gold card for the dry-embossed corners, which are an old set by Spellbinders. The sentiment is heat-embossed in gold, and I added 3 tiny snowflake images, also gold-embossed.

Go and be inspired by my teamies, they have such varied styles, you're sure to be inspired!

I have used the adorable Sunshine by Star Stampz.

I cut the image mat with the largest Spellbinders' Captivating Squares die, using paper from an old Basic Grey pad called 'Soleil.'

CRAFT Challenge #419 Inspired by a Film.

Good morning! We have a new Challenge at CRAFT and this week it's Inspired by a Film.

When I first saw this image from sponsor Lacy Sunshine I thought of one of my favourite films, Curse of the Golden Flower which is a melodrama set in Ancient China, and which is gorgeous!

However, the girl in the image is definitely Japanese, so instead I'll link to The Mikado

The papers are snippets, the ribbon and shell embellies are from stash. The image is Koi Fish Dreamer

Our sponsor this week is: Lacy Sunshine

See what my teamies have made to inspire you and check out the films they have linked to - you might find one that's just right for your weekend viewing!

My Time to Craft #347 Down on the Farm

Eek! I'm late! Apologies! I really must learn that writing a 'To Do' list is useless if I don't do what's on the list! D'oh!

Anyway, our new Challenge at My Time to Craft! is Down on the Farm so we'd like to see Farm animals - horses, pigs, sheep, chickens, cows - or a tractor!

I made this Get Well card for a friend undergoing an operation. The cow is purple (and I'll explain why later) and is from Paper Smooches' Chubby Chums stamp set. Such fun images! The flowers and mushrooms and snail are from Lawn Fawn's Gleeful Gardens set. The 'Get Well' is from Sentiment Sampler by Paper Smooches and the 'sooooon' is made with stickers from my stash.

So why a Purple Cow? Well, Gelett Burgess wrote this silly poem:

I never saw a purple cow
I never hope to see one
But this I'll tell you anyhow,
I'd rather see than be one.

Then Carolyn Wells wrote some delicious parodies of well-known poems on the same subject. Take a look! Even if you don't know the originals (and there are some that I don't know at all) they are still very funny!

The Purple Cow Parodies

I hope you enjoy them!

Do also go and see my teamies' great creations for the challenge, there's a wonderful variety there to inspire you!

CRAFT Challenge #418 Recipe

Hi, everyone! I hope you're having a good Thursday. I have been putting away the winter clothes - my Grannie used to quote 'Cast Not a Clout Till May Be Out' and since it's June 1st it seemed appropriate!

We have a fab Recipe at CRAFT Challenge this week.

For my card I used the gorgeous Charmant by Rick St Dennis. I love his portrait digis they are so elegant.

The Three Papers are from an old Papermania pad, they are brighter in real life. The Two Ribbons (or 1 ribbon and 1 ricrac!) are from stash and the gold Glitter is Glamour Dust. The gold-embossed sentiment is by Lili of the Valley.

Our Sponsor is Rick St Dennis MFA

I admit, I found the recipe quite Challenging! Do have a look at my teamies' fab creations for some gorgeous inspiration!

The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge #7 Anything Goes for Christmas

Hi, guys! Dashing by (late!) with my DT card for The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge.

The cute mouse is a digi from the sorely-missed Meljen. So cute! The paper is from a very old Papermania pad, and the sentiment is by Lili of the Valley.

Thanks for looking, and apologies that I'm late, we had both grandchildren to visit last weekend and time flew away with me!

Dream Valley #157 More Than One Fold

Hi, guys! I hope all is well with you. This Bank Holiday weekend we were visited by our children and both grandchildren, which was lovely! The house is very quiet now.....

Time for a new Challenge at Dream Valley which is to make something with More than One Fold. I made an easel card.

The adorable image is Springtime by All Dressed Up stamps. So sweet! I added butterflies cut with a die by Joy! Crafts which I can't find to link to, sadly. There are pearls along the butterfly bodies and also in the corners. The stopper is made with strips of card and papers, gold-embossed with a Lawn Fawn Scripty Saying sentiment. The ribbon is from stash.

We have two sponsors for this Challenge:

Oddball Art and

All Dressed Up.

My teamies have made some lovely examples to inspire you with interesting folds, do take a look!

CRAFT Challenge #417 Father's Day/Male

Good morning! I hope you are all keeping well. Our new CRAFT Challenge is to make something for Father's Day or for the blokes in our lives!

I used The Dragon and the Knight for my Father's Day card, it's such a cute image! I used a Woodware corner punch to decorate the corners. The background paper is from an old magazine freebie.

The DAD die-cuts are made with an old Die-namics alphabet die. The silver card I wanted to use was too bright, so I covered a scrap of card with several layers of silver embossing powder and used that instead.

Our sponsor this week is:

Doctor Digi's House of Stamps

and our Sponsor for Star of the Month is:

Star Stampz

Now I'm off to do a huge tidy up, as both the grandchildren are coming to visit and I must move stuff out of the reach of little hands! Wish me luck, I'm going in!

Thanks for looking, and have a fun weekend!

My Time to Craft Challenge #326 Sketchy Time!

Hello, me dearios! I hope you're all having a good weekend, whether at work or at play!

Our new Challenge at My Time to Craft! is this fabulous Sketch by Jo!

Isn't it great? Just perfect for a card I wanted to make for a friend of my daughter's, who has just had a bonny, bouncing baby boy!

I used the adorable Butterfly Baby by Krista Smith, now available in rubber from Little Darlings Rubber Stamps. Too darn' cute!

I coloured him with Copics, and slathered Icicle Stickles over his wings. I distressed the edge with Broken China Distress ink, and did the same with the mat, which is cut with a Spellbinders Heart Circles Die. (The link is to the main Spellbinders site, Google the die to find local sources.)

The paper is a snippet, I'm not sure who it's by. The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts, the leaves are cut from a snippet of green card using a Woodware punch. I glittered the flowers with Glamour Dust. The sentiments are from an old 'Baby' set by American Crafts, and stamped in 'Stargazer' pigment ink from Mama Elephant. I love that colour!

I used my glue gun to adhere the flowers, since the card is off to the Republic of Ireland - aren't those little threads of glue that appear when using a glue gun annoying? I spent ages carefully removig them! I need more practice.

Go and see the lovely variations on the sketch that my fab teamies have made, they are so inspiring!

It's Thursday, which means a new theme at CRAFT Challenge. I hope you all had fun on our Birthday blog hop last week! Today we have our monthly Christmas theme.

I used Christmas Baubles from our sponsor Pink Gem Designs. I used Copics to colour the image, and added Wink of Stella to the stars and gold Stickles to the snowflakes. The gems around the red mat are from stash, and so is the bakers' twine. The background paper is from an ancient Papermania pad.

Our sponsor this week is Pink Gem Designs.

The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge #6

So sorry, everyone, I thought I had scheduled this! Oops!

Here is our new Challenge at The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge where it's always Anything Goes I made three cards this time, using pre-coloured toppers from an old set by Lili of the Valley with some green or red cardstock and some gold card to layer. The papers are from my Christmas stash.

Very simple, and I tried to match the papers to the colours of the toppers, which all have added Stickles on the fur trim for some shine.

Dream Valley DT #156 Things with Wings.

Good morning! It's a grey, drizzly day here in S E Herts. A good day to hop over to Dream Valley and check out our new challenge, Things with Wings. So - fairies, birds, bees, aeroplanes - as long as it has wings it's ok for the challenge!

I went with a cute image from our sponsor Sasayaki Glitter. This is You Blow Me Away isn't she sweet?

I added glitter to her wings and the centre of the flower in her hair. I used a Spellbinders' Labels Four die to cut out the image, and layered it onto an Elegant Labels Four mat. The Butterfly is also cut with a Spellbinders die.

The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the ribbon and pearls are from stash. The background paper is a snippet and the sentiment is from an old Lili of the Valley sentiment set.

Go and see my teamies' pretty creations and then join in the fun!

We have now grown to be a large team of Design Team Members from all around the world, supplemented with several Guest Designers who join us for a month or a week at a time.

We have always welcomed all kinds of craft, not just paper craft (unless specifically stated so in the challenge at the time) and are happy to have such a large group of faithful followers.

So, how are we going to celebrate this milestone?

Well, how else can we celebrate than to have our yearly Blogaversary Blog Hop?

My Time to Craft! Challenge #345 Masculine

Good morning! I hope you are all having a good weekend! We have grey skies and a chilly wind here in S-E Herts, but on the bright side I have seen several Swifts flying by in the last couple of days, which means that Summer is on its way!

On to our new Challenge at My Time to Craft! and it's to make something For the Men in Our Lives. Yes, one of those tricky creations for a bloke!

I've made a Father's Day card - I know the actual day isn't until June, but I thought I'd be efficient and make one early!

I used the Balloon Bouquet outline die from Simon Says Stamp and cut it in black card. I glued it to the card front, which is covered with paper from an old Studio Calico Kit. Then I cut the die again from snippets of coloured card and inlaid them. I gave them some sparkle with a Spectrum Noir clear sparkle pen.

The sentiment is from an old set by Clearly Besotted, sadly it's now out of print.

Do go and see my teamies' gorgeous creations for some great inspiration!

CRAFT Challenge #414 3D Decoupage

Hi, guys! We have a Technique Challenge at CRAFT Challenge this week: 3D Decoupage.

The cute Cat image is from Kenny K. I printed 4 images, all the same size, to cut my layers from, and coloured then with Warm Grey Copic markers. The striped paper is very old, I think it was from Papermania, but the pad has lost its cover.

The ribbon and sequins are from stash. The gold-embossed sentiment and black pawprints are from the Nine Lives set by Paper Smooches.

Our sponsor this week is the fabulous Kenny K

The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge #5

Good morning! It's time for another Challenge at The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge and we are on Number 5 already!!!

I have made a CAS card, stamping with rainbow colours.

I used a stamp from the Avery Elle Noel set, and Simon Says Stamp hybrid inks (which came with a kit) in rainbow colours. The background paper is a snippet. I layered everything onto blue and then silver cardstock. The ribbon is from Hobbycraft, the gems are from stash, and the snowflake sequins are from Little Things From Lucy,

On the inside I stamped and gold-embossed 'born is the King of Israel' from the Lyrical Script set by Altenew.

Dream Valley #155 Blue and Yellow.

Good morning! Happy Monday! We have a Bank Holiday today in the UK - I hope we have good weather! It's a running joke here that on Bank Holidays we usually get rain!!

We also have a new Challenge at Dream Valley which is to use Blue and Yellow on your creation - which doesn't have to be a card!

I have been tidying my Craft Hovel yet again, and came across my stamps from The Greeting Farm. They are lovely stamps, such great images and such high quality red rubber. They are easier to stamp than clear stamps, I think.

Anyway, when my printer ran out of ink so I couldn't print out an image by our sponsor Cute as a Button Stamps I chose an old Anya stamp from The Greeting Farm.

Sadly, I can't find her on the website. I cut her out with a Spellbinders Oval die and layered her onto a Spellbinders Scalloped Ovals mat, and added her to the card with foam tape. I added Spectrum Noir sparkle to the flower in her hair, and a gem from stash. The paper is also from stash, as are the blue seam binding and the sequin flowers in the corners. I am using up my stash!!! I still have enough left to last a decade... at least!

The sentiment is from Lili of the Valley's Dreamy Days Circular Sentiments Set and says ' Dreaming of Sunshine and Smiles'. I cut it with a Spellbinders circle die and layered it onto a Spellbinders Scalloped Circle die.

My Dream Valley Teamies have done some lovely work with images from our sponsor, do go over there for some inspiration!

Sequins and Buttons

Good morning! Last Saturday I made a shaker card for the current Challenge at My Time to Craft which is to use sequins, buttons or both. While I had my sequins and the button tin out, I thought I'd make another card, using Bubble Bloom Felicity by Woodware. I've had this stamp a while but never used it - it is Never-before-used-Schtuff or NBUS for short.

The inspiring Darnell coined the phrase and acronym. If you haven't discovered her blog do go and see, her creations are lovely and she is so funny!

Anyway, here is my card:

Very CAS! The buttons are from my late Mother-in-Law's button tin, they have a pretty pearly sheen. The sequins are from Little Things by Lucy from her Tutu Sparkly Shaker Collection. So pretty! The leaves are coloured with Copics.

I hope you all have a great weekend! I have scheduled this, as tomorrow Ye Olde Manne and I are going to a wedding! A rare excuse to wear my Posh Frock!!!

CRAFT Challenge #423 Inspired by a Book

Good morning! At CRAFT Challenge this week we'd like you to be Inspired by a Book.

Mine is 'Treasure Island' by Robert Louis Stevenson. Arrr, Jim lad!

The image is an old one by Bugaboo Stamps. I used some very old pirate buttons, cutting off the shanks before gluing them down. The blue strips are supposed to represent the treasure trail - in hindsight I should have stamped arrows along each strip! Hindsight is a wonderful thing!

I used stickers for the sentiment, and the paper is from stash.

As Lord Melchett said in the Blackadder II episode 'Potato,' - "With a Yo Ho Ho and perhaps I might venture a bottle of rum into the bargain."

Our sponsor is wonderful:

Bugaboo Stamps

Go and see my teamies' creations - you may well be inspired to read the books they have illustrated!

Thanks for looking and have a great weekend!

My Time to Craft Challenge #344 Sequins or Buttons.

Goooood Morning!!! I hope you're all enjoying the weekend! Our next challenge at My Time to Craft is to use Sequins or Buttons or Both on your creation! This is a great challenge, as you can add sequins to a girly 'make' or buttons to a 'boy' one!

I went with a Shaker card for a baby.

I think it looks as though she is sitting in one of those soft ball play areas!

The adorable little elephant is from a Simon Says Stamp set, Wild About You - the stamps came with their April kit, I don't have the dies! Even though the price has gone up a lot since the fall in the £ since last June, I just can't stop my subscription to these gorgeous kits!!! We are eating a lot more vegetarian dishes as a result, they are cheap and delicious and my veggie daughter approves!

Back to the card. I stamped 3 pale pink hearts around the elephant and used Glossy Accents to glue some sequins about her. I added a pink one near her ear, but when I added more sequins later, a little white one got stuck underneath, and I think she's looking at it, wondering where it came from!

The pink paper has soft white images on it, and comes from DCWV's 'Mariposa@ pad, which I have had for several years. I used a Lawn Fawn Stitched Circles die to make an aperture (I have both the large and small circle sets, I'm not sure which set the die came from!) and backed it with acetate. The border is made with the first die I used and also the next size up.

I doubled up strips of Scotch foam tape, cut them lengthways in half, removed the backing and curved it around the aperture, leaving no gaps. Then I added more doubled tape around the edges of the back of the patterned paper. I had stamped the elephant onto my base card, all I had to do then was dust the exposed edges of the tape around the aperture with an embossing buddy, add some sequins (from Lucy's Little Things Tutu Sparkly Shaker Selection) and lay the patterned paper piece over it.

The banner is also by Lawn Fawn, and the sentiment is by Paper Smooches.

Phew, what a long post! I so enjoyed making this card, Shaker cards take a long time for me because I am rather fussy about getting everything right, but they are such fun!

Go and see my teamies' interpretations on the theme, they are such a talented bunch, you're bound to find inspiration there!

The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge #4

Hi, guys! It's a lovely, sunny day in S-E Herts, so of course it's time for another Challenge at The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge!

I have been having a massive tidy of my craft hovel and found a lot of very old Christmas papers, so I made 3 Starburst/Sunburst cards. The link is to Youtube.

The Christmas tree is a Spellbinders die, I filled in the holes with red stickles. The sentiment is by Hero Arts.

The holly die is by Whimsy Stamps and the sentiment is from the same Hero Arts set

I layered it on gold card, and the sentiment is by Lil' Inkers.

Fun cards, and brilliant for using up snippets!

PS Here is a video on making a side starburst card, for some variety!

Have a good week!

Dream Valley #154 All About the Hair

Hi, guys, our new Challenge at Dream Valley is to have differently coloured hair on your project. Don't do what I did!!!!! I didn't read the requirements properly - what a plonker! So please imagine that the dancer on my card has purple, or blue, or orange or pink hair!

The image is an old one from the greatly-missed Saturated Canary. I used paper from a very old magazine freebie paper pad; the sentiment is from an old Clearly Besotted stamps set which sadly seems unavailable. The ribbon and gems are from stash.
