My Time to Craft #365 Monochrome

Image
Hi, guys! Our Challenge this fortnight is Monochrome - that is, use shades of just one colour on your creation (skin and hair don't count!) I got out my Distress Inks and did some embossed resist! I used an old stamp set from Clearly Besotted to stamp and heat-emboss three dragonflies and some little hearts onto watercolour paper, then wet the paper. I squished some Seedless Preserves onto a craft mat and used that to paint. Then I added some sequins, a sentiment from the stamp set, and a purple banner. I liked it so much that I had another go, this time with Victorian Velvet! This one DOES NOT FIT THE CHALLENGE because one of the banners is purple, not pink - but I wanted to show you anyway! Hop over to the Challenge blog to see my teamies' gorgeous creations! Thanks for looking and have a great weekend! love Mags B x

Dream Valley DT Challenge #118 Use the Colour Blue

Image
Good morning! I hope you all had a good weekend! We have a colour challenge at Dream Valley this fortnight: Blue. That is, everything except an image's skin and hair, should be in shades of blue. Looking at my card, you can see that I used shades of blue that are a bit too close in colour, I needed more contrast. You never stop learning in this cardmaking lark! I used Lil Lovely Hearts by our sponsor, Sherri Baldy, and coloured her with Promarkers. The falling hearts have been Glossy Accented, the rose has been glittered, and a blue gem heart is added on top of the heart on her blouse. The papers are by Pink Petticoat . The ribbon and broderie anglaise are from stash, the sentiment is by Clearly Besotted from the Mini Basic Banners stamp set. On the right I added some flourishes cut with the Cheery Lynn Mini Fanciful Flourish die and some flower shapes which have a blob of stickles in the centre. As I said, not enough contrast! Our sponsor is Sherri Baldy Desig...

Dream Valley Challenge DT #84 - Monochrome

Image
Dream Valley Challenges are now on Mondays instead of Sundays. Oops, I know this is Tuesday, I'm sorry I'm late with this! Our new challenge is Monochrome - that is, with the exception of skin tones and hair if you're colouring an image of a person, just use shades of a single colour. Our Sponsor is The Paper Shelter and a lucky winner will receive a $20 voucher for the store! I used one of my favourite TPS images, this is Victorian Beauty I wanted it lo look like an old sepia photo. I used Promarkers, and distressed all the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. The papers are by LotV/Nitwits, from the 'Country Lady' pad. One layer is edged with a Martha Stewart Doily punch and there's a strip of card glued underneath it to give some variety. The brown cord is crochet thread. I added pearls to the corners and also to the button on the lady's jacket, and Glossy Accented her mirror. The sentiment is a bought die-cut from stash. This is the perfe...

Dream Valley Challenges DT - Monochrome

Image
For my DT card for The Squirrel and the Fox please scroll down to the previous post. Ta. Good afternoon, all! I hope you're having a happy and relaxing Sunday afternoon! Our new challenge at Dream Valley is up and running, and it's a great colour challenge: Monochrome - use shades of just one colour (apart from skin and hair if you're colouring a person.) There are some lovely examples from the DT - and the amazing Mel has once again created something awesome from paper, you really must go to the Challenge blog and see it! Our sponsor is the fab Robyn's Fetish and a lucky winner can choose 5 digis from the shop! I already had the beautiful Gilded Christmas Dove and I made a Christmas hanging: Here is a close-up: I coloured with Spectrum Noirs, GB7 to GB1. I added gold Liquid Pearls here and there. The ribbon is from my sewing box, I sandwiched it between the image and a backing of gold card from my stash. I need to find a large yellow bead to hang ...

Babies and blankets

Hi, guys! And a warm welcome to my new followers! Thanks for coming by! I hope your week is going well. We had an exciting day yesterday, as the new tv digi-box, phone and Internet were installed! Everything seems to be working a wee bit faster and, even more importantly, we haven't lost the Internet in the last 24 hours! I took the afternoon off, since the ironing is always with ye, and set up a mini-assembly line to make 4 baby cards: It wasn't much quicker than doing them individually, since as usual I kept putting things down and being unable to find them a minute later! I also managed to sit on a pencil and stab myself in the bum! Now, that takes real talent! Here's my favourite of the cards, I love the soft green Promarker colours: I used a different colour combo for the face and hands, since I saw this video on skin tones by Kimberly Brown yesterday. The image and the sentiment are both by Lili of the Valley The papers are all snippets, even the green...

P-p-p-Penguins!

Image
Over on the Pollycraft Monday Challenge the theme is 'It's Chill Time.' So here's a chilly, snowy card with the sweetest Penguins, which were a freebie. I'm getting into digi images slowly, though it's still easier for me to use rubber rather than faffing around trying to work out what to do on the computer!! I'm also entering Simon Says Challenge as this week they want white cards, apart from the image. Well, I've seen some fabulosus white cards recently, they look so delicate and sophisticate, so I thought I'd give it a whirl. I used 3 CB folders, ribbon, and 2 Marianne snowflakes heavily glittered (I have interesting patches of glitter on my jeans, too.) I also randomly glittered the embossed papers, and the gem in the middle of the snowflakes is actually a clear diamond, not yellow. I edged everything with a silver Versacolor pad and used a MS punch on one edge. Thanks for looking and have a good evening! ETA: why are my links not working? I ...

Gothy Girl

Image
This is my second post for today!! For my birthday present to me I indulged in some fabulous stamps from Tickled Pink Stamps and here's a card I made with one of them. Her name's Lilith. Isn't she wonderful? I was experimenting with monochrome, and since she has that skull hairclip, I chose Goth colours: grey and black and white. I punched a Woodware snowflake pattern to go behind the flowers in the corner, but they don't show very well. And the roses she's holding should be much brighter! It's not my usual style, but my daughter likes it! Thanks for looking! luv, Mags x Recipe: Promarkers: Ice Grey 2, Ice Grey 4, Almond, Vanilla, Azure, Cocktail Pink, Mint Green, Magenta. Papers: Charcoal Pad - DCWV I think (cover is lost). Leaf punch (unknown manufacturer) Inverted corner punch (Woodware) White glitter paper, spotty ribbon, black gloss card, flowers from stash
