My Time to Craft #478 Lots of layers - at least 3, please!

Image
Hiya! Happy Friday! Welcome to our latest Challenge at My Time to Craft! where we'l like to see Lots of Layers! My first card was made for my new Grand-nephew, born last weekend.  I used Sketch 46 from Operation Write Home with a little adjustment to the central panel. The papers are very old! So is the stamp, which is by Hero Arts.  I stamped the image on the cardstock oval and coloured the crown and beak with Copics, then stamped twice more on patterned paper, fussy cut, and layered them like decoupage.  The sentiment is heat-embossed in blue and I added Nuvo Glitter drops for a bit of bling. My second card is 5" x 7" and is very Old Skool, using Spellbinders Romantic Rectangles dies.   I hand cut the polka dot paper to fit inside each die-cut, then layered them with foam tape.  The flowers and leaves are made using punches, and I added more Nuvo drops to the flower centres.  No sentiment yet, as I'm waiting for the right occasion.  I really should use my Spellbin

The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge #112 - Anything Christmas Goes.

Morning, all! In my previous post I mentioned that we were having repair work done on our solar panels system.  All is now ok! The engineer was pleased that we have a cage fitted around the panels to prevent pigeons from nesting underneath! In a little while I'll be able to get back to the craft hovel to make a New Baby card for my new Grandnephew.   For now, here is my card for  The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge. I used a hexagonal punch and a variety of blue and white papers stuck onto some Stick-It double-sided sticky sheet for the background.  I left gaps between the hexagons and then added silver gilding flakes, burnishing them well with a bone folder.  The die-cut is from Lawn Fawn and is silver mirri card, though it looks grey in the picture, and I layered it onto 2 more die-cuts in pale blue card. Have a look at the Challenge - you can make anything Christmassy, not just a card! Thanks for looking and take care! love Mags B x

Dream Valley #266 Springtime

Image
I'm so sorry I'm a day late with my post for Dream Valley Challenges. Yesterday was very busy, our solar panels stopped working (Boo!) but my neice gave birth to her 3rd baby, a little boy. (Yay!) Now we have a couple of engineers in the loft and when they're gone I'll be making a New Baby card!  In the meantime here are the details of the new Challenge. The theme is Springtime so lots of pretty spring colours are in order! Our sponsor is The Paper Shelter and I have used the Adorable Easter Bunny digi stamp. So cute! I used papers from a very old paper pad by First Edition called 'Spring Fling.'  The sketch is by Call Me Crafty Al on Youtube and is the June 2019 design. Check out my teamies' creations on the blog and have fun with pretty Springtime colours and blooms! Thanks for looking and take care. love Mags B x

My Time to Craft Christmas #30 Forest or Christmas Tree

Image
Hi there! TGIF! And TG there's a new Challenge at My Time to Craft Christmas! We would like to see Trees.   Either Christmas Trees or Winter Trees - I went with Christmas Trees. I used a very, very old wood-mounted stamp for my card and embossed it in gold on green cardstock.  The background is a pearlised gold scrap of patterned paper, and I used an embossing folder on the oval mat.  The red hearts are peel-offs by Love from Lizi, the star is die-cut from gold mirri card and the banner sentiment is a die-cut from my stash. I used another old stamp to make a second card: I used the same green cardstock to gold-emboss the tree stamp and layered it on the same gold mirri.  The papers are scraps from the Snippet Drawer, the sentiment says 'Holiday Wishes' and is from the same Hero Arts Stamp set as the image.  Finally I added gold glitter circle peel-offs, also by Love From Lizi. My teamies have left some gorgeous inspiration for you on the Challenge blog - check it out! Tha

My Time to Craft! #477 Animals.

Image
Good morning, all! Welcome to a new Challenge at My Time to craft! Our theme is Animals. I have been digging through my older stamps and came across two adorable images by Penny Black.  The frogs are perfect for a friend who volunteers at a Community Farm where they have a lot of frogs in their pond.  The second is for a couple who have just announced their engagement and who love Birdwatching.   I found some paper in my stash that looks like water splashes which seemed just right for the image! The sentiment is gold-embossed and is from a stamp set by Altenew full of 'Happy Birthdays' in different fonts and sizes.  I underlined the sentiment with a couplw of shiny green peel-offs by Love from Lizi. For the background of the geese I wanted a paper with some bright orange and found this one by Basic Grey many years ago.  The sentiment is cut with an old die by Clearly Besotted.  I used a Scallop Corner Chomper on the top corners and brushed Peeled Paint around the edge to gi

The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge #111

Hiya! I hope you all had a good weekend! I've had a busy day today - first a morning at the Church Toddler and Baby Club where I volunteer, and then a dental appointment! It's quite strange to be busy now, after 2 years of almost nothing! But one constant has been cardmaking, and we have a new Challenge at   The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge.   I made a Shaker card. The wreath image is an old layering stamp by Clearly Besotted.  I added 2 tones of green to the leaves by Stamping the light green (in my Misti) and inking the stamp in dark green and wiping off the edges.  Then I stamped the berries stamp in red.  I used the same red for the bow, which I fussy-cut and glued on top of the acetate. The border and sentiment (an ancient Hero Arts stamp) are embossed in gold, and I added 2 holographic red peel-offs by Love from Lizi to the sentiment.  The paper is from stash. Check out the blog for some inspiration from my lovely teamies! Thanks for looking and have a good week. lov

Dream Valley Challenges #265 Add some Bling.

Image
Hi there, and welcome to another Challenge at Dream Valley.    We would like to see some bling on your creations this time. I made a very shiny card! I heat-embossed an old Simon Says Stamp image and painted them with mica paints.  They show up so well on black cardstock! Then I tried splatter with gold and white paints - as you can see, I'm not a very good splatterer, I need more practice!  Finally the sentiment is die-cut from gold card. Check out my teamies' creations and join in! Thanks for looking and take care! love Mags B x

My Time to Craft Christmas #29 Angels for Christmas

Image
Hi there! I hope you're all looking forward to a relaxing weekend with plenty of time to craft. We have a new Challenge at My Time To Craft Christmas and out theme is Angel(s). L et's see one or more angels on your Christmas cards! Now, I know it's only the beginning of March, but it's less than 10 months until the Big Day - and think how pleased you'll be to see a nice pile of cards ready for posting in December! I have made 2 cards, because even though I make them through the year I still had to do some intensive cardage last November! The first is a CAS card made with an image from a Paper Smooches set (I'm so sad that they are no longer trading.) I used a Lawn Fawn stitched square for the image and the mat is embossed with the same gold that I used for the stamping.  The embossing powder is Royal Gold by Love from Lizi, it's gorgeous! The sentiment is from an old Clearly Besotted stamp set. For my second card I went with silver embossing powder (Silv
