My Time to Craft! #406 Birds

Hi, guys! As you read this I will be travelling home after a week spent in Shropshire, close to where my son and his family live. It's a beautifulpart of the country, stuffed full of history and with some fabulous walks by the River Severn. Of course, as a fan of Ellis Peters' 'Brother Cadfael' mediaeval mystery series I love exploring round Shrewsbury, where the stories are set! Do visit, if you ever have the chance.

Anyway, I have scheduled this post, and I hope I've got it right!

Our challenge this time is simply - Birds. I have a gorgeous pink flamingo on my card!

I have been sorting through my card kits and came across one from Simon Says Stamp last year which included the One Cool Pineapple stamp set, which is still available to buy on its own. I LOVE this stamp set! I stamped and coloured the flamingo and used a circle die to cut it out, then added streaks of Copics in blue to make the water round its feet. I also gave the water some sparkle with a Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen.

The paper is left over from the kit, as are the sequins and the 'Happy Birthday' stamp. When my daughter came to visit she looked through my cards and walked off with every single one that I'd made with this kit - I think she liked them! It was lovely to go back and use up some more of my stash.

Anyhoo, that's my card for this Challenge. I know my teamies will have made a gorgeous collection of Bird cards to inspire you, so do go and see!

Thanks for looking and have a great weekend!

(Now for the scheduling, I hope I get it right!)

The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge #56 Anything Goes.

Christmas is creeping ever closer, but at The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge we are here to help! In other words, we have a new Challenge for you!

I have been channelling my inner Kristie Marcotte and have made a set of 4 cards. Kristie's videos show how she uses card sketches to use up an entire 6 x 6 paper pad, and I get ideas from her about how to mix papers without a card being too busy, and also ideas on using up snippets! Do go and have a look!

The card sketch is Operation Write Home #146 - unfortunately I don't seem able to add the image here.

The papers are from an old DCWV Christmas paper pad which came with a magazine. The gold-embossed sentiment is by Clearly Besotted and sadly is out of print. I added some gold peel-offs from Love from Lizi for added bling.

I am quite a slow cardmaker, but doing an 'assembly line' using the same sketch is quicker, and the various papers make them not too 'samey'!

Check out my teamies' creations and be inspired to get your Christmas on!!

Thanks for looking, and I hope your week is going well.

Dream Valley Challenges #209 Autumn Colours.

Hi, guys! We had a visit from our daughter this weekend and in between seeing her old friends she was watching Korean Drama on the tv! I found it quite interesting - though I'm not normally one for the soaps! Anyway, she's now on her way home to Ireland and the house seems a bit empty! Hopefully she'll be back before the end of October, with hubby and son in tow.

So we have a very topical new challenge at Dream Valley: Autumn Colours.. Our sponsor is Sheepski Designs and the lovely Andrea generously sent some digis for the DT to use. I have used Lilly - isn't she lovely?

The papers came from a mysterious pad that has lost its details, which I found while tidying the Craft Hovel last week. It's amazing what I find when I do that! I coloured Lilly with Promarkers and matted the image and papers with gold mirri card. I added a Sway Peeloff from Love from Lizi over the join between the two papers. The corner stickers are from my stash, and the sentiment is from the same mirri card, cut with a die from the latest Love from Lizi kit.

Go and see my teamies' lovely creations, made with some fab Sheepski images!

Thanks for looking, and have a great week!

My Time to Craft #405 Anything But A Card.

Hiya! I'm sorry this post is late - my daughter is over from Ireland for the weekend, and I'm afraid with all the excitement I forgot!

Anyway, we have a new Challenge at My Time to Craft which is to make Anything BUT a Card. That can be a scrapbook page, embroidery, anything! I have made some little boxes for Christmas presents.

They are based on This video by The Posh Paper Lady. I used 6.5" papers from Kaisercraft (a very old Christmas pad!) so I was able to add lids to the boxes rather than glue everything down. All I did was add half an inch to one of the top flaps, score it, and cut off the opposite flap to give room to tuck the lid in.

The snowflakes are cut in silver mirri card using a Lawn Fawn Stitched Snowflakes die. I'll add tags nearer the time, once I've found suitable gifts to go inside!

My teamies have been so creative, do go and look at their lovely work!

Thanks for looking, and have a great weekend!

The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge #55

Hello! It's another very hot day here in Hertfordshire, so what better than to talk about Christmas? Yes, we have a new Challenge at The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge where it's always Anything Christmas Goes.

I found a very old foiled decoupage sheet when cleaning up my stash a couple of weeks ago. It was ragged around the edges, but I salvaged one gorgeous image of the Three Kings giving their presents to Baby Jesus.

I matted it onto silver mirri card, and for a background used a vintage-looking paper of bells which I think was a magazine freebie. I love all the festive shine!

Do join us for the Challenge - remember, it's doesn't have to be a card that you create!

Dream Valley Challenges #208 Buttons and/or a Bow

Hi, guys! Happy Monday!

Ournew challenge at Dream Valley is to use Buttons and/or a Bow. Our sponsor is Oddball Art. The DT were given some of their cute and quirky images to play with, and I have used Penelope.

The background paper is glittered, it came from a very old Papermania pad called 'Hampstead.' The buttons are in fact die-cuts, made with a Love from Lizi die and cut from a snippet of blue glitter card. I added embroidery floss to tie each button to make them look more realistic! The bow is coloured with Broken China Distress Ink. The sentiment is an old Sizzix die. I also added Nuvo Drops on the image and around the scalloped mat.

Go and see the cards my teamies have posted on the Challenge blog and be inspired!

Thanks for looking, and have a great week!

I have a card for a little girl here, using the adorable Magical Day by The Greeting Farm.

The unicorn paper is from Chasing Rainbows by First Edition. I made the image into a banner, adding some Nuvo Drops along the top. The ribbon is from stash and the sentiment came with the image.

The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge #54 Anything Christmas goes.

Hello! First of all I must apologise: although I made my card before our break in Ireland to visit my grandson (and his parents) I completely forgot to upload the image to the Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge for today's new challenge post.

Ooops!!

Here is my card, which is made using paper and image from an old set by Hunkydory.

I layered everything with silver mirri card, which echoes the silver foiling on the image and sentiment. Easy and very pretty - I really like Hunkydory!

Do go and see the creations which my lovely and FAR MORE EFFICIENT teamies have left on the challenge blog to inspire you!

Thanks for looking, and I hope you're having a good week.

This is Spring Fairy and I loved colouring her!

The papers are Nitwits' Bonnets and Bowties digi papers. I added a pink ribbon from my stash and a die-cut sentiment.

My Time to Craft #403 Oriental

Good morning! I hope you're all keeping well. I am in the middle of a GRAND TIDY UP and I have reached the stage where I'm inspecting my hubby's wardrobe. 90% of his shirts and trousers are frayed and worn - I foresee a shopping trip in the near future. He hates clothes shopping!

Enough of that, you're here for our new Challenge at My Time to Craft. Our new theme is 'Oriental.'

I have used a very old Woodware Stamp set, Oriental Ladies, which is sadly out of print.

The papers are also very old, from the 'Kioshi' collection by Basic Grey. I added dots of Caramel Cream crystal Nuvo Drops on the fans on the background paper. The black dragonflies and the sentiment are from the same old stamp set.

Do go and see the elegant creations my teamies have left on the Challenge blog to inspire you!

The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge #53 Anything Christmas Goes

Hi, guys! This is my third Christmas card in 5 days! We are back with a new Challenge at The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge. I have kept my card very simple, because the main image has a lot of gorgeous gold foiling on it.

I 'up-cycled' a card I received last year, the stained-glass dove was too beautiful to discard! I used very old Frilly Frames die to cut out the image, and drew around the die to create the mat from gold mirri card.

The background paper is from stash, and the die-cut sentiment is from Lawn Fawn.

Dream Valley #206 Christmas in July

Hello, my lovelies! When you read this I will be away in the Republic of Ireland, staying with my daughter and her fmily. My grandson hasjust turned three! Where does the time go??? So this post is scheduled, and I hope I've done it right.

Our new challenge at Dream Valley is Christmas in July. So we are looking forward to see your Christmas creations - remember, it doesn't have to be a card! Although in fact I have made a card!

The image is Snow Queen Portrait from Sassy Studios Designs. I used snippets of blue winter papers, and the silver mirri sentiment is made with an old Love From Lizi die. I added drops of Diamond Stickles in her hair to look like snowflakes.

Rather than mat and layer all the papers I brushed the edges with Faded jeans Distress Ink, because I thought that gave a more delicate look.

Go and see my teamies' cool Christmas creations for some inspiration!

My Time to Craft! #402 Christmas

Hi, guys! It is blisteringly hot here in S-E Herts - but to cool us all down we have a new challenge at My Time to Craft which is Christmas.

For my card I have used items left over from an old kit by Love From Lizi. The image is cut out from a piece of patterned paper, foam mounted on another patterned paper from the kit. The sentiment reads 'Winter Wonderland' and is embossed in gold and mounted on a scrap of gold cardstock. I used the same gold cardstock as the main mat.

I think this would make a good Christmas card for a bloke!

Thanks for looking, and keep cool!

My Time to Craft #401 'Check it out!'

Hiya! We have a great new Challenge at My Time to Craft - Check It Out! That means: use checks, or plaids or ginghams in your creations!

I used up some papers from an out-of-print Basic Grey pad called 'Lauderdale.'

The cute lion stamp came with a magazine a couple of years ago, I gold-embossed him and coloured him with Distress Markers.

My fab teamies have left some terrific inspiration for you on the Challenge blog, do go and Check It Out!!!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Well, what a scatterbrained girl I am!! I was so certain that TODAY was the next challenge at My Time to Craft! that I didn't check - and of course it was LAST FRIDAY. D'OH!!!!! Wot a plonker, eh?

The current theme is I do like to be beside the Seaside - so anything to do with the sea or the beach.

I used items from a 2018 kit by Love from Lizi. The image is part of a decoupage set, I edged it in Faded Jeans Distress ink to make it stand out against the gorgeous beach toys background paper. The sentiment is glittered, and reads 'Fun in the Sun.' I added some light blue ribbon from my stash.

I'm so sorry I'm late! But do go to the Challenge blog and see what my lovely, EFFICIENT teamies have made!

The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge #52

Hi, guys! It's mid-June and the rain is tipping down. A good reason to make a Christmas card or two! Especially since we have a new Challenge at The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge.

I have used one of my favourite Christmas stamps, Penny Black's Antique Santa. Such a delight to colour!

I used up some very old paper that came free with a magazine long ago, and some equally old red mirror card. I added stickles to Santa's hat and the star on his wand. The gold-embossed sentiment is also old, it came from Clearly Besotted.

I wish I could say that my humongous stack of paper pads obtained over the last ten years was shrinking - but no!! I'm sure we all have that problem!!

Hopefully you can all dig into your Christmas stacks and make a card and join our challenge! My teamies, as usual, have done sterling work to give you inspiration.

Thanks for looking, my dearios, and I hope your week is going well.

My Time to Craft! #399 Watercolour

Hi, guys! I apologise that I'm a day late with my DT post for My Time to Craft! However, better late than never!

Our new theme is Watercolour and I have used 2 versions - watercolour paints, and Distress Oxide ink smooshing. I also made 2 cards.

Here is the second card:

The flowers are from the May kit from Simon Says Stamp, I stamped them on watercolour paper and painted them, then fussy cut them. The backgrounds are smooshed with Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet and Seedless Preserves Distress Oxides. The sentiments came from the same kit. Finally I added Nuvo Drops here and there.

My talented teamies have made some gorgeous cards to inspire you to get out your watercolours and have a go!

Dream Valley #204 Summer Colours

Good morning from a very wet S-E Hertfordshire! Our new Challenge at Dream Valley is to use Summer Colours. Well, today the colours outside are mostly grey, and the only summer colours I can see are on my card!

Having seen a lot of gorgeous creations with Turnabout Stamps by Concord & 9th, I have had a go myself, using the Wreath Turnabout. I chose 4 dye inks in bright colours, loaded upmy Misti with the stamp and a Turnabout Jig and started to stamp.

It really was very easy, especially now that the stamps come with a printed acetate sheet that helps with lining up the stamp. I used orange card for the cardbase to keep the bright theme going!

Finally I used an MFT Celebrate die to cut the sentiment in gold card and added some pearly Nuvo Drops around the wreath.

Take a gander at my teamies' bright and summery creations, they will cheer you up!

Thanks for looking and have a great week.

Hi, guys! Thanks so much for your kind words and encouragement on my news that I'm still clear of cancer! I really appreciate it. XXX

Now we have a new Challenge for you at My Time to Craft which is to use kraft on your creation.

I love the look of white embossing on kraft, and dug out my coloured pencils, too.

The image is from the Simon Says Stamp set Mandy's Flowers as is the white-embossed sentiment. I added a few Nuvo Drops as embellishments.

Dream Valley #203 Only Boys Allowed!

Hi, guys! It's a Bank Holiday here in the UK, and as is traditional we have grey clouds and showers! All the more reason to get into the craft room, I think!

Last time at Dream Valley we had a girlie theme; this time it's the boys' turn!

Our sponsor is Sheepski Designs and the lovely Andrea is offering a prize of 3 images from her shop. She also gave the DT some fab images to use - check out the Dream Valley blog to see what my talented teamies have done with them!

I used Taking Pics and coloured him with Promarkers then fussy-cut and mounted on foam tape.

I used a Spellbinders Labels Two die to cut spotty paper for the background, and drew round the die onto blue card and cut it out for the mat. The check paper also came from my stash. I found a little black-and-white camera sticker and coloured it to match, then added a Happy Birthday die-cut from Love from Lizi. Finally I added Glossy Accents to the camera apertures.

I'm really pleased how this turned out, I find boys' cards difficult, but the image made it all easy! Thanks, Andrea!

Thanks for looking, and have a great day!

Hi, guys! It is the middle of May - and time to make Christmas cards! Well, it's never too soon to start! We have a new challenge at The Holly and Ivy, where it's always Anything Christmas Goes.

The MFT Santa's Elves stamps are so cute, and a joy to colour. I matched my Promarkers to the background paper, which is from an old pad by Papermania. I used a scrap of red holographic card to mat the image, and the foiled sentiment is from a magazine freebie. For more sparkle I added Crystal and Gold Stickles to the image.

Check out the inspiration that my teamies have left on the blog, as usual they have done a terrific job!

My Time to Craft #397 Tag! You're It!

Hi, guys! Apologies that I'm a day late with my DT post for My Time to Craft.

This fortnight we'd like to see your Tags

Mine is a mixed media/shabby chic mashup and somewhat out of my comfort zone, but I think it works ok!

I used a woodgrain stencil and Indian Gold Nuvo Embellishment Mousse on the tag base. I inked and distressed a scrap of pink patterned paper, and stencilled 'love' using the same mousse. The die-cut fairy and the little shaker bottle came with a kit by Love From Lizi and so did the ribbons and sparkly butterfly stickers. The lace and star gems are from my stash.

My teamies have made a wonderful array of tags in so many different styles to inspire you, do go and check them out!

Thanks for looking, and have a good weekend! This afternoon I'll be tidying the craft hovel (yet again!) and this evening I'll be listening to the FA Cup Final and making cards! Come on, Watford!

The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge #48

Hello, all! I hope you're all keeping well. Here in S-E Hertfordshire it is a very cold day, and the rain is teeming down from a very grey sky. Brrr!

On the other hand, we have a new challenge at The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge to join in with! The theme is Always Anything Goes. Eek! A rumble of thunder! Apparently hail is expected later today, too. It's all appropriately wintry for our new challenge!

I kept it CAS this week, using an old Whimsy stamp of pine branches and ribbon.

(Yes, here comes the hail!)

Colouring an embossed image with alcohol markers is a no-no, as the alcohol dissolves the embossing and the embossing ruins the pens. However, Jennifer McGuire has a way around it! Using a Misti, stamp the image in pale dye ink and colour that in. Then replace it in the Misti and reink with Versamark, they you can emboss on top of the dried inks! So that's what I did.

Go and see my teamies' inspiring creations, and join the fun!

Thanks for looking and have a good day!

My Time to Craft! #396 Clean and Simple.

Hello, my dearios! I hope you're all looking forward to a good weekend, with plenty of time to craft! We have a new challenge at My Time to Craft which is Clean and Simple.

I have used items from the Simon Says Stamp April card kit to make 2 cards to the same layout.

I made 2 cards because I used 2 papers to die-cut the wellie boot and just swapped them around!

I die-cut the base from white card and coloured in the flowers, then paper-pieced the boots. I added shading with grey alcohol markers to give more definition. Finally I went over the boots with Glossy Accents.

Dream Valley Challenge #201 Pink Birthday

Hi, guys! I hope you're all keeping well! We have a new Challenge at Dream Valley and it's a lovely, girlie theme - Pink Birthday.

Our fab sponsor is Fabrika Fantasy and the DT were lucky enough to be given some images to work with - I chose the darling Flying Elf. So cute!

I chose the Promarker colours from the background paper, which is a very old piece by Kanban, and has lovely silver foiling which really gleams in the light. Because I didn't have quite enough to stretch across my card I added a matted scrap of an old Nitwits paper down the middle to hide the gap. The elf's hair and dress, and the dragon's horns, have Spectrum Noir sparkle added to them.

The silver-embossed banner and sentiment are also old, they are by Clearly Besotted. I added pink Nuvo drops around the scalloped mat which I cut with a Spellbinders die, and inked the edge of the image with Spun Sugar Distress Ink.

Is this pink enough, do you think?

So if you want an excuse to make something pink and girlie, join in with the challenge! Don't forget to check out my teamies' creations for inspiration!

The Holly and Ivy Challenge #48

Happy birthday, William Shakespeare!

Good evening, all! I hope you had a wonderful weekend and that going back to work hasn't been too stressful!

We have a new Challenge at The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge for you to enjoy!

I used an old Woodware stamp and heat-embossed it in gold. Then I coloured it using my Zig pens. I scribbled the colour onto a palette (nothing fancy - just a piece of A4 white card that's been laminated!) and used a damp brush to pick it up. I added Nuvo Drops to the flower centres. The sentiment is also gold-embossed, and the sequins are from my stash. The background paper was loose in my Snippets drawer, I have no idea where it's from!

Have a look at the festive creations my teamies have left on the blog to inspire you and join in the fun!

My Time to Craft #395 Spring Flowers and a DT Call!

Evening, all! I'm sitting down with a G'n'T after a fun but rather knackering afternoon at a one-day children's Holiday Club in our Church Hall. The children made Hot Cross Buns, and individual Easter Gardens, and helped set up the big Easter Garden that's now in front of the altar. It was lovely!

Now I'm about to order a takeaway, but before then I must tell you about our new challenge at My Time to Craft where our theme is Spring Flowers.

I used an old Clearly Besotted stamp called Scribbled Flowers. The stem is separate from the flowers, and I used Lawn Fawn inks to stamp them. Rather than mask the flowerheads where they overlapped, I followed Jennifer McGuire's advice and simply rubbed off the ink in the overlapping areas before stamping.

The sentiment is embossed in Emerald City by Love from Lizi. I added a strip of Moss Material Embossed card also by Love from Lizi, to ground the flowers.

My teamies have made some beautiful cards, do go and see!

There is also a DT Call, the details are on the Challenge blog.

Thanks for looking, and have a lovely weekend!

Dream Valley #200 All About Bears!

Good morning, my lovelies! Our new Challenge at Dream Valley is so cute, it's All About Bears. Our sponsor is the amazing Dies to Die For I have been a big fan for many years!

At my Church's Toddler Group which I help to run we are a bit low on birthday cards for little boys, so my card for this Challenge is one of several that I'm donating.

I used one of my favourite Lili of the Valley stamps, sadly it doesn't seem to be available any more, but do check out their website and Etsy shop for adorable images!

I paper-pieced all the balloons, adding Promarker alcohol pens to give some shading for dimension, and also Glossy Accents for some shine. I used the 'out of the box' technique, cutting around the tops of the balloons before using a stitched circle die to cut out the image. Then I added fun foam behind the image to give some more dimension.

The papers were hanging around in my stash. I went around all the edges with Broken China Distress Ink. I cut the happy birthday sentiment using a Lawn Fawn die from blue mirri card, cutting it down to fit. I added Wedgewood Blue Nuvo Drops to add some bling.

Take a look at my teamies' adorable creations and be inspired!

The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge #47

Good afternoon, my lovelies, from a dreicht and rainy S-E Hertfordshire! Having done ALL the ironing I have now earned a happy crafting afternoon! But first it's time to tell you about a new Challenge at The Holly and Ivy where it's always Anything Christmas Goes.

(ooo, I could just do with a warming glass of festive mulled wine today, it is so cold!)

My card is Old School, I used Distress Inks and embossing powders do do some watercolour embossed resist for the background.

I added Perfect Pearls to the water I used with my inks, there's a subtle sheen which the camera hasn't caught, sadly. I used all the stamps from Lots of Snowflakes by Simon Says Stamp, embossed them, then dipped the cardstock into watered-down inks on my craft mat. The sentiment is from an old Clearly Besotted set, embossed in Simon's Steel Navy embossing powder.

I matted everything onto some silver mirri card.

I added Silver Moondust Nuvo Glitter drops to the background to give more sparkle.

I'm sorry the photo is so dull, it all looks brighter and sparklier in real life!

As usual my teamies have done a fab job with their creations, do go and see!

My Time to Craft #394 Easter or Hedgehogs

Hiya! I hope you're all keeping well and finding time to craft! I've had quite a few busy days recently, and less time in the Craft Hovel, and I really feel the lack! However, it's now the end of term at the Toddler Club and I intend to spend the next few days crafting and listening to CRICKET!!!!! Yay!

We have a new Challenge at My Time to Craft to encourage you, our theme is Easter or Hedgehogs I made an Easter card using the Amazing stamp set from the March kit by Simon Says Stamp.

I used various dye inks to stamp the background in bright Spring colours. The daffodil is a layered die by Altenew which came free with a magazine, and although it's not available from Altenew they do have a very pretty Build-a-Flower Daffodil stamp and die set.

The gold-embossed sentiment is a very old stamp! I added orange Nuvo Drops to the banner.

Dream Valley Challenge #199 Shaped Card - no Squares or Rectangles

Hiya! There's a new Challenge at Dream Valley which is to make a Shaped Card - but not a square or rectangle! Think circles, ovals, hexagons, teacups, cupcakes.....

We have TWO gorgeous sponsors this time: Cute'n'Crafty and Star Stampz.

I have made a Rocker Card - the link is to a useful YouTube tutorial - using Birthday Pebbles by Cute'n'Crafty.

I used a Scalloped Circle die for the rocker base, as I find that's a bit more stable. The circle-patterned paper came from an old magazine freebie and the gold-embossed sentiment is by Paper Smooches. I used Broken China Distress Ink round the main image and the sentiment, and Spectrum Noir Sparkle on Pebbles' hat and bow tie.

I apologise that this post is a day late! Thanks for looking, and have a great week!

The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge #46

Hello, my dearios! In 9 months time it will be Boxing Day! (Where has this year gone?) But don't panic, we have a new challenge at The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge.

The blog post isn't up yet, but don't worry, it will be there later today.

I used some Hunkydory papers and toppers that came free with a magazine quite a long time ago to make 3 cards.

The sentiment says "From our home to yours at Christmas."

This one has a shopping theme - I'm never so elegant as these ladies when shopping!

And this one has an image of a sketchy poinsettia!

Do join in with the Challenge, it's never too soon to start making Christmas cards!

Thanks for looking, and have a great day!

My Time to Craft #393 Mother's Day or for a Female

EEK! I'm so sorry I'm late with my post, I had my Church's Baby Club this morning, then the weekly shop, then an electrician came to mend a couple of lights, and then I was packing my rucksack for the Anti-Brexit March tomorrow! (Which is going to be HUGE and I'm also meeting a cardmaking Facebook friend In Real Life for the first time, and I'm so excited!)

Sorry, I normally keep my political views on Facebook, but I am so looking forward to tomorrow!

*Breathe*

I'm calmer now, and I can tell you about the new Challenge at My Time to Craft which is Mother's Day or for a Female. I lost my Mum 13 years ago, so I'm grateful for the alternative to Mother's Day. In fact, I made a card for a friend's birthday last week.

This adorable ballerina is a very old Penny Black wood-mounted stamp, she was one of the first stamps I ever bought back in 2009. The papers are from my snippets drawer, and the ribbon came from Hobbycraft. The gold-embossed sentiment is an old one from Lil' Inkers Designs. I placed the image a smidge too low on my card, so the sentiment is also too low, but I think it still works!

Do go and see my teamies' lovely creations and join in! (After all these years of being part of various Design Teams it still gives me a frisson of excitement to talk about my teamies!)

Think of me on Saturday when I join the Big March through London! By Sunday I know I'll be very achey, but it will be worth it! Keep an eye on the News to see how we do!!!!!

Thanks for looking, and have a great weekend!

Dream Valley Challenges #198 Let's Get Krafty!

Good morning, all! We have a new Challenge for you at Dream Valley -Let's Get Krafty! I do like a good (bad!) pun!

Our sponsor is the fabulous Polkadoodles. I have used the sweet Winnie with Balloon she is just so cute!

I made a circle card, just for a change!

The background isfrom My Mind's Eye kraft Funday collection (out of print now) and I used a Spellbinders' Grand Circles die to cut it out. The scalloped mat is cut with another Spellbinders die from Neenah Desert Storm cardstock, and I inked the edges withVintage Photo Distress Ink. Winnie's balloon is covered with Glossy Accents, and I added some sequins from stash.

I made sure that the card would fit into a large square envelope BEFORE die-cutting: the last time I made a circle card it was too big to fit any of my ready-made envelopes!!

My teamies have produced some gorgeous work, go and see, then join in!

Thanks for looking, and have a good week!

My Time to Craft #392 Raining Cats and Dogs!

Hi, guys! We have a new Challenge at My Time to Craft! and it's to use images of a dog, a cat or both on your creation! Cute, or what?!

I have made a fairly CAS card.

This very elegant cat is from the Nine Lives stamp set by Paper Smooches. I stamped her several times with Versacolor Onyx Black ink to get good coverage, then used clear embossing powder to give some shine. The "You're Purr-fect" sentiment is from another Paper Smooches set, Chubby Chums.

I ink smooshed the background using Picked Raspberry and Worn Lipstick Distress Inks, then lightly sprayed with Perfect Pearls to give a nice sheen. I used 2 strips of paper from Nitwits' Bonnets and Bowties collections, and finished with some Nuvo Drops.

Do have a look at my teamies' sweet creations and be inspired to join in!

Have a COSMIC birthday!

Hello, my dearios! I'm here with a quick post before I stagger upstairs to change the sheets. Since I am under 5' tall and the bed is over 5'long, this takes a while! However, it's all exercise, innit?

I was sorting my wooden stamps the other day when I found a very old stamp by Inca Stamps called 'Lift Off'.

I embossed the image and sentiment in silver - the sentiment is also very old! I also embossed the glittered strip, with Nuvo Silver Moonlight embossing powder, as the cheap glitter paper I have tends to shed!

All the papers and the blue card for the mats are made with Snippets - hooray! One day soon I hope to be able to close my drawer full of scraps!

Now I'm away to join in the fun at Pixie's Snippets Playground!

Thanks for looking!

The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge #45 Anything Christms Goes.

Hi, guys! It's a chilly but sunny Spring day - why not make a Christmas card? Yes, we have a new challenge at The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge and this time you have until March 26th to add your festive creation!

I received a really beautiful card from a good friend last year and have recycled the image.

The Wise Men picture and script are silver foiled and so gorgeous! I used a shaped Spellbinders Labels Three die (sadly out of print) to cut the image, then traced around the outside of the die onto silver mirri card and fussy cut it to use as a mat. The background paper was in my stash, and I used more silver mirri to mat it.

It's a very simple card, but I hope it does the original justice!

Have a look at my teamies' lovely work and be inspired!

Thanks for looking and have a great week!

Dream Valley #197 Four-legged Friends

Good afternoon, all! We have a new challenge at Dream Valley - Four-legged Friends.

I used an adorable digi from our sponsor Di's Digi Stamps called Hey Ho Hey Ho Mice - so cute!

The papers are from Basic Grey's 'Out of Print' paper pad, which is now actually out of print! The ribbon is from my stash. I added Wink of Stella to the flower petals and Nuvo Drops to the flower centre.

My teamies have used a wonderful assortment of images on their creations, do take a gander!

My Time to Craft! #391 Pink and Girly

Hi, guys! We have a gorgeous new Challenge at My Time to Craft - Pink and Girly!

Today I have 2 CAS cards to share, both to the same design but with the papers reversed.

Here is the second:

Everything except the main sentiment, which is from an old Simon Says Stamp kit, came from the January 2019 kit by Love from Lizi.  I used Lizi's Silver Dollar embossing powder on the big sentiment. The bottom sentiments are both glittered stickers. I also used some silver glitter Peel-offs as a border between the two papers. Finally I added some pink Nuvo Drops.

Take a look at my teamies' fab, girly creations, then get out all your pinkest craft supplies and join in!!

Thanks for looking, and have a great weekend!

Dream Valley #196 Sparkle and Shine

Hi, guys! I hope you're all keeping well!

We have a new Challenge at Dream Valley and this time the theme is Sparkle and Shine.

I have used one of my favourite images from our sponsor Oddball Art, this is Sid the Silly Seahorse and he's so cute!

There is quite a lot of Sparkle and Shine here: the mats are made with glitter paper, the die-cut sentiment is made with satin-effect silver card, the bubbles around Sid have been stickled, and his glasses and fins have been covered with Glossy Accents!

Go and see my teamies' gorgeous work, using more quirky images from our sponsor!

Thanks for looking, and have a great week!

My Time to Craft! #390 Men Only

Hi, guys! I hope you're all keeping well!

We have a new Challenge at My Time to Craft! which is Men Only. Yep, we're asking for those tricky cards for the Blokes! I have made a card for a boy.

This is Fenton Frog by Sweet'n'Sassy stamps, he is so cute!

ALL the papers and card (except the card base were made with Snippets from the scrap drawer! The sentiment came with the image and I cut it out and layered it onto a folded banner die-cut by Simon Says Stamp, using a scrap of green glittery card. I added green Nuvo Drops as an embellishment as well as two tiny green hearts on the banner.

I am determined to make a real effort to use up snippets this year!!

Go and see the fab work left on the Challenge blog by my teamies!

Thanks for looking and have a great weekend!

The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge #44 Anything Christmas Goes

Hello, my dearios! Doesn't it seem a long time since Christmas? Everything is back to the daily routine - cleaning, cooking, ironing, and tidying the craft hovel, in my case! However it is never too soon to start on Christmas cards, and The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge is here to help!

This time the Challenge lasts until the 3rd of March, which gives you plenty of time to join in!

I have used an old printed image (coloured by the amazingly talented Bev Rochester) from Lili of the Valley and added Stickles here and there - in fact, I made 8 cards using various images and Christmas papers to the same design. Yes, one of my New Year's Resolutions is to USE STUFF UP!

The paper is from an old Papermania pad, and the ribbon is from the Pinflair shop in Hertford - they have beautiful ribbons! I used a Love From Lizi die and gold card for the sentiment.

Check out the creations my teamies have made on the blog, then put your Santa hat on and get Christmassy!

Thanks for looking, and have a great week!

PS You may remember I 'lost' a box of Christmas cards last November. Well, I've found it!! Yippee!!
