Sparkly Daisies

Good evening, all! Yay, it's Friday! Hooray for the Weekend!

I signed up for a class at Online Card Classes called 'Stretch Your Stamps 2' - UK pals, the exchange rate between the £ and the $ is pretty competitive, so if you've ever considered one of these classes, now is the time to investigate!

Gotta admit, I'm addicted lol! I've been experimenting with some of the techniques shown this fortnight, and it's been such fun!

This is a better photo than the original, I hope you can see the glitter embossing over the Darling Daisies line image by Chrissy Armstrong for Whimsy Stamps. Click on the pic for a clearer view!

The technique demonstrated by Jennifer McGuire involved using different colours of embossing powders on an image stamped in Versamark in tiny amounts to give a multi-coloured image. I don't have a variety of embossing powders, so I followed a suggestion she made using markers, a Stamp-a-ma-jig, Versamark and clear glitter embossing powder.

I coloured the stamp itself, using Marvy LePlume water-based markers - NOT alcohol pens! I 'huffed' on the image to moisten the ink and stamped using a Stamp-a-ma-jig to line up my acrylic block. Here is a video on the Stamp-a-ma-jig. I didn't use the transparent mat, just lined the tool up against the corner of my card and stamped down.

Then I cleaned the stamp and used Versamark to stamp directly over the coloured image, guided by the Stamp-a-ma-jig. Then I could add my embossing powder and heat-emboss. It was a bit fiddly and took several tries!

The pink background is a Hero Arts background stamp, heat-embossed in white, and sponged with Picked Raspberry, Worn Lipstick and Spun Sugar Distress Inks in a shaded Ombre effect. The card base was run through a Spellbinders Lattice Embossing folder to give a bit more 'oomph!'

It's so pretty in real life, and so dull in the photo!!!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend! Thanks for looking!

This is lovely! I think you'll enjoy the class a great deal (I didn't sign up for this one...but I did the watercolor and another one recently). I may have to revisit this one as I'm seeing lots of great work coming from it. I think you did a fabulous job with the technique and I'm glad the exchange rates are such that you can give the class a whirl. What is so nice, these classes are always available later. Some I've taken are for a certain time period and cost a lot more than these did. I found the charge quite reasonable, and the classes were all very understandable. Happy wkend, and TFS

That sounds like a fun technique and your solution was brilliant. I have some of those markers and never knew what to do with them...Shall have to try this technique!

The image is so very pretty and sparkly this way and I like the different colours you achieved.
Absolutely gorgeous card Mags, the flowers are very pretty.

Warm hugs
