The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge #46

Image
Hello, my dearios! In 9 months time it will be Boxing Day! (Where has this year gone?) But don't panic, we have a new challenge at The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge. The blog post isn't up yet, but don't worry, it will be there later today. I used some Hunkydory papers and toppers that came free with a magazine quite a long time ago to make 3 cards. The sentiment says "From our home to yours at Christmas." This one has a shopping theme - I'm never so elegant as these ladies when shopping! And this one has an image of a sketchy poinsettia! Do join in with the Challenge, it's never too soon to start making Christmas cards! Thanks for looking, and have a great day! love Mags B x

My Time to Craft #393 Mother's Day or for a Female

Image
EEK! I'm so sorry I'm late with my post, I had my Church's Baby Club this morning, then the weekly shop, then an electrician came to mend a couple of lights, and then I was packing my rucksack for the Anti-Brexit March tomorrow! (Which is going to be HUGE and I'm also meeting a cardmaking Facebook friend In Real Life for the first time, and I'm so excited!) Sorry, I normally keep my political views on Facebook, but I am so looking forward to tomorrow! *Breathe* I'm calmer now, and I can tell you about the new Challenge at My Time to Craft which is Mother's Day or for a Female. I lost my Mum 13 years ago, so I'm grateful for the alternative to Mother's Day. In fact, I made a card for a friend's birthday last week. This adorable ballerina is a very old Penny Black wood-mounted stamp, she was one of the first stamps I ever bought back in 2009. The papers are from my snippets drawer, and the ribbon came from Hobbycraft. The gold-emboss...

Dream Valley Challenges #198 Let's Get Krafty!

Image
Good morning, all! We have a new Challenge for you at Dream Valley - Let's Get Krafty! I do like a good (bad!) pun! Our sponsor is the fabulous Polkadoodles . I have used the sweet Winnie with Balloon she is just so cute! I made a circle card, just for a change! The background isfrom My Mind's Eye kraft Funday collection (out of print now) and I used a Spellbinders' Grand Circles die to cut it out. The scalloped mat is cut with another Spellbinders die from Neenah Desert Storm cardstock, and I inked the edges withVintage Photo Distress Ink. Winnie's balloon is covered with Glossy Accents, and I added some sequins from stash. I made sure that the card would fit into a large square envelope BEFORE die-cutting: the last time I made a circle card it was too big to fit any of my ready-made envelopes!! My teamies have produced some gorgeous work, go and see, then join in! Thanks for looking, and have a good week! love Mags B x

My Time to Craft #392 Raining Cats and Dogs!

Image
Hi, guys! We have a new Challenge at My Time to Craft! and it's to use images of a dog, a cat or both on your creation! Cute, or what?! I have made a fairly CAS card. This very elegant cat is from the Nine Lives stamp set by Paper Smooches. I stamped her several times with Versacolor Onyx Black ink to get good coverage, then used clear embossing powder to give some shine. The "You're Purr-fect" sentiment is from another Paper Smooches set, Chubby Chums. I ink smooshed the background using Picked Raspberry and Worn Lipstick Distress Inks, then lightly sprayed with Perfect Pearls to give a nice sheen. I used 2 strips of paper from Nitwits' Bonnets and Bowties collections, and finished with some Nuvo Drops. Do have a look at my teamies' sweet creations and be inspired to join in! Thanks for looking! love Mags B x

Have a COSMIC birthday!

Image
Hello, my dearios! I'm here with a quick post before I stagger upstairs to change the sheets. Since I am under 5' tall and the bed is over 5'long, this takes a while! However, it's all exercise, innit? I was sorting my wooden stamps the other day when I found a very old stamp by Inca Stamps called 'Lift Off'. I embossed the image and sentiment in silver - the sentiment is also very old! I also embossed the glittered strip, with Nuvo Silver Moonlight embossing powder, as the cheap glitter paper I have tends to shed! All the papers and the blue card for the mats are made with Snippets - hooray! One day soon I hope to be able to close my drawer full of scraps! Now I'm away to join in the fun at Pixie's Snippets Playground! Thanks for looking! love Mags b x

The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge #45 Anything Christms Goes.

Image
Hi, guys! It's a chilly but sunny Spring day - why not make a Christmas card? Yes, we have a new challenge at The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge and this time you have until March 26th to add your festive creation! I received a really beautiful card from a good friend last year and have recycled the image. The Wise Men picture and script are silver foiled and so gorgeous! I used a shaped Spellbinders Labels Three die (sadly out of print) to cut the image, then traced around the outside of the die onto silver mirri card and fussy cut it to use as a mat. The background paper was in my stash, and I used more silver mirri to mat it. It's a very simple card, but I hope it does the original justice! Have a look at my teamies' lovely work and be inspired! Thanks for looking and have a great week! love Mags B x

Good afternoon, all! We have a new challenge at Dream Valley - Four-legged Friends. I used an adorable digi from our sponsor Di's Digi Stamps called Hey Ho Hey Ho Mice - so cute! I added Wink of Stella to the flower petals and Nuvo Drops to the flower centre. My teamies have used a wonderful assortment of images on their creations, do take a gander! Thanks for looking, and have a great day! love Mags B x
