Dream Valley Challenge 13 - Distressing.

Good morning! This is quite a long post, so put your feet up with a cuppa and we'll be off!

It's a new challenge at Dream Valley, the last fortnight has just flown by! We didn't have quite as many entries for the 'Surprise' Challenge, which isn't surprising (!) because it's the holidays! All the entries were very imaginative, though, and I certainly picked up a few tips!

This time the Challenge is 'Distressing.' We have TWO sponsors!

The first is One Stop Card Crafts

They're offering a £10 voucher for their lovely shop!

The second is Digi Doodle Shop

The prize is a $10 voucher! Not bad, eh?

The DT were lucky enough to be given some images from Digi Doodles to play with, yay! I used a gorgeous one, Country Path . I coloured with Promarkers and added some purple stickles to some of the flowers.

Now the only distressing I usually do is going round the edges with Distress Ink, but I thought I ought to go further this time! So, after studying many videos on Youtube, after inking the edges with Tea Dye I attacked them with a pair of scissors, scraping until the edges were fuzzy and curled. It was quite satisfying!

I punched the lower bp with a Martha Stewart punch, and distressed that to give a bit more definition.

Then I thought I'd make my own flowers, using a Nesties die and purple scraps from my stash. I sprayed with Old Lace Glimmer Mist and scrunched them then left them to dry. Then I inked the edges, glued them together and stuck a gem in the middle. On the whole, this idea was better in my mind than on the page, but Challenges are meant to encourage experimenting, hey? I think I'm going to replace them with purple Prima blooms before I send the card!

The sentiment is 'The Greeting Farm.' The papers are K and Co, the nice, simple sketch is from Sketch and Stash. The stas I used were the new image, and the papers are from my old stash.

So there it is, a curate's egg of a card ('good in parts.') The rest of the DT have done their magic, do trip across and see their lovely work! It would be terriffic if you could join us this fortnight!

Have a great day!

luv, Mags x

Promarkers: Leaf Green, Lime Green, Lime Zest, Pine, Forest Green, Tan, Caramel, Ivory, Lavender, Orchid, Amethyst.
