Dream Valley DT Challenge #60 - Make your own flowers or embellishments
Good afternoon, lovely people! I hope you're all having a relaxing weekend. My hubby and I have just spent a hilarious hour working out how to put our new lawnmower together! I think the instructions were originally written in ancient Chinese and translated into English via Latin! Fun times!
Here is my slightly late card for Dream Valley Challenges
and our theme this time is Make Your Own Flowers or Embellishments.
Our lovely Sponsor is Mulberry Crafts
who sell the most gorgeous, top-quality flowers! They are offering a Goody Bag as a prize to one lucky winner!
I have gone 'Steampunk' with this birthday card for a friend of my daughter. The image is by Papermania, embossed in Detail Black, and sponged with Tea Dye, Vintage Photo and Frayed Burlap inks. The background paper is by Bearly Mine, and the ticket is by Tim Holtz.
WHAT ABOUT THE EMBELLISHMENTS? you cry!
I took a leaf (or should that be a cog?) out of my very talented teamie Elaine's
book and made my embellishments from a recycled aluminium can. Elaine was published in 'Craft Stamper' last year with an article on how she makes them, so you may have seen her beautiful work there.
I VERY CAREFULLY cut off the top and bottom of a can, and cut down the side. Beware, it's easy to cut a jagged edge if you're not careful. Then I used a Tim Holtz die to cut out the cogs and the 3 little circles.
I coloured them by dabbing with Ranger alcohol Inks in Terracotta, Cranberry and Meadow, using a felt applicator also from Ranger. IRL the metal looks gorgeously shiny!
Having been so careful with the metal, I then gave myself a papercut from the backing paper!!!
Go across to Dream Valley
and see the fabulous embellies that my teamies have created, and they have a go yourself!
But be careful not to give yourself a paper-cut!!!
Thanks for looking, and have an excellent week!
