Thinking of You

I was very wicked last month and indulged in some new stamps from The Glitter Pot. So my trusty breadmaker and my Big Pot For Soup are working overtime - but soup is cheap, healthy and (though I say it as shouldn't) delicious, so it's a win-win situation! Especially on a grey, chilly day in S-E Hertfordshire!

Anyway, I made this for my friend who had the twins on Monday, because she's home but the babies are still being monitored in hospital. It's hard for her. I think she'll like the card - she likes History, and I get a mediaeval vibe from the image, as though the flowers have been scattered on an old tiled floor. Romantic, or what?

I stamped on the card itself (gosh that's scary!) and used Blue Pearl and Orchid in patches, blended together to give a soft, worn look. The flowers are all 3-D, I used Poppy and Crimson, Gold, Antique Pink and Amethyst Promarkers for them. There's a topaz gem in the middle of the poppy. The dots on the background (which can only just be seen in this rubbish light) are stickles, and the ribbon and bow are shimmery organza, from Hobbycraft. I lined the card with blue and purple checked paper to hide the Promarkers that seeped through, but I didn't do a good job of sticking it and it's crumpled, oh noes!

What glues do you lasses recommend?

I am really pleased with this one, though really the stamp is so straightforward it almost made itself!

Right, time to see what's in the fridge for tonight's Soup of the Evening. Minestrone? Tuscan Bean? Mulligatawny? I fancy something tomatoey and warming. (I have all the recipe books from The Covent Garden Soup Company!)

Thanks for looking, and stay warm!

luv, Mags x

Hi Mags

I am back in blogland at last .. .. what a nightmare this week has been.

It is a good job my hubby knows what he is doing as I would have stood no chance.

I love your card .. .. .. and your soup story. That made me smile. I love soup - but hubby isn't quite so keen. He likes to see the meat and three veg on his plate!! LOL!!

Stamping direct onto a card always feels scary .. but nine times out of ten you can cover it up if it goes wrong.

I tend to use double sided tape more than glue.

I love that red flower. So striking.

Love Jules xx
just a really lovely simple but stylish card, love the flowers.
My stamp buying is always wicked , it's a wonder we are not on bread and water...now soup I love it.
thanks for your kind comments , enjoy the rest of the weekend.
