Silver Fairy
Good evening, my lovely blog friends! Welcome to my new followers, I hope you like this somewhat ditsy blog!!
It's Friday - huzza! I hope you're all looking forward to a great weekend! Here in the UK we will apparently be getting more rain and wind and even snow, so I hope you'll all wrap up warm and remember to take your brolly with you when you go out!
It's been one of those weeks when I've been pottering in my craft hovel, working on one card here and another card there. Which is nice, but it's also a sure-fire way to miss the deadline for a challenge, which happened to me with this card and last Saturday's lovely sketch from Sketch Saturday! Too bad!
This beautiful image is Silver Fairy by Sylvia Zet for Whimsy Stamps. I love her, she resembles the daughter of a very lovely friend!
I fussy-cut her out, and used foam pads on the centre of her wings and also down her body and glued the ends of her wings and her hair flat, to give her a 3-D effect. I hope that makes sense! Her wings are covered with Diamond Stickles, spread thinly (ie with my finger - it's amazing that I didn't Stickle the bacon steaks we had for tea tonight!)
I coloured her with Promarkers - the darker areas on her wings are a blend of greens and blues, since I originally went for green but it didn't look right so I went over again in blue. I rather like the serendipitous effect!
I used a Spellbinders Timeless Rectangles Die behind the image, and the good old Martha Stewart Doily Punch for the 3 strips behind that. The orange ribbon came from Hobbycraft.
Here's a shot of the inside to show the sketch and the die-cuts and punched strips:
I distressed with Vintage Photo to emphasise the doily edges.
The papers are Nitwits 'The Bees Knees' - I love that set, it's so pretty! All the flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the twiggy leaves peeping out here and there are made with a Nellie Snellen punch. The blue gems are by The Hobby House and the ticket is a T!m Holtz number.
Have a great evening, my loves, and thanks so much for looking!
love Mags B x
PS I'm sorry for the naff photos! I blame the camerawoman (me!)
Promarkers: Walnut, Henna, Cocoa, Sandstone; Coral, Sunkissed Pink, Blush, Baby Pink; Azure, Sky Blue, Powder Blue, Pastel Blue; Holly, Forest Green, Bright Green, Apple
