Dream Valley DT Challenge #80 Say it with Words

Image
Ooops! I'm so sorry, chaps, I'm a little late with my DT cards for Dream Valley It's a slightly different challenge this time: Say it with Words - in other words, we'd like to see words or a sentiment on your creation (remember, it doesn't have to be a card!) Our fab sponsor is Crafty Sentiments and a lucky winner will win 3 digis! Go and have a look at the shop, they don't just sell digis, they have all kinds of crafty stuff! I used the Black and White Sentiments Set 1 to make some 4x4 inch notelets. The bases are white Centura Pearl. I made a template out of scrap card and marked on the front of each card where the Spellbinders circle die should go. Then I cut out all the sentiments with the same die and used foam pads to stick them on the inside of the card, through the hole. I used the same die and a wider scalloped circle die to make the border, using spotted paper from a Raspberry Road stack that was another magazine freebie. Finally I tied

Good morning, all! Happy Easter! It's time for another challenge at The Squirrel and the Fox ! We'd like you to dig out your Dies and/or Punches . Our sponsor is the amazing Kenny K . A lucky winner will be able to choose 5 digis - what a great prize! So get punching and die-cutting and enter the Challenge - you gotta be in it to win it!! This fabulous image by Kenny K is 'Supermom' and I made the card for a very special friend who is definitely a Supermom! I used Spectrum Noirs to colour her - I've been practising with my Speccies, following the video tutorials on the Spectrum Noir website, which is a very useful resource. All the papers are from my 'free with magazines' stash. I used 1 Spellbinders label die; 1 Martha Stewart border punch; 2 Retro flower punches (E K Success and Tonic); and 1 Woodware punch for the leaves. The sentiment is by Lili of the Valley. The gems are from Hobbycraft. Go and see how creative my teamies have been with

Dream Valley DT Challenge #79 - Easter

Image
Hello again! For my DT card for The Squirrel and the Fox please scroll down to the previous post. Ta. It's another topical Challenge at Dream Valley : Easter . Our sponsor this fortnight is the wonderful Mulberry Crafts who will reward a lucky winner with one of their fab Goody Bags. Go and drool over all the gorgeous things for sale on their website! I used my lovely Grand Calibur for the embossing and die-cutting on my card: The card base and blue layer use Centura pearl cardstock, I really like the sheen it has. The die-cuts are from Decorative Labels Eight and Gold Labels Four, with a plain Labels Four on the top. The cross is by Wild Rose Studio and is stamped in a multicoloured Brilliance ink, it is a bit darker in real life, and has a subtle shine. The flowers and ribbon are from stash. The leaves are from a Woodware punch, and the bling is from a swirl by Hobbycraft. I glittered the flowers. The sentiment is LotV; and it's on another Spellbinders die-cut, t

The Squirrel and the Fox DT #67 All Creatures Great and Small

Image
Good morning! Over at The Squirrel and the Fox we have a great new challenge - All Creatures, Great and Small! We'd like to see cards with animals - or fish or insects or even dinosaurs! Our lovely sponsor is Oak Pond Creations and a very lucky winner can pick 3 of their fabulous digis! Not too shabby, eh?! Isn't this the most wonderful fox family? A very lovely friend of mine is moving home to Scotland next week, and this is the card I made her. She has 3 bright, fun daughters, so as soon as I saw this image I knew it was just right for her! I used the Spellbinders Filigree Delight die to emboss a card base made with Centura Pearl. I added some pearls in the corners and the middle of the sides. I used all the russet coloured Promarkers to colour the image, plus some green for the grass they are sitting on. The sparkly organza ribbon and the diamante buckle are from stash. The sentiment is by LotV - it's actually straight on the card itself but unfortunately my

It's been quite a sad year so far, with several Sympathy cards made for friends. I'm sorry the photo is a bit naff, it's been a very overcast day and the light is pretty bad! The paper is from a 'Webster's Pages' stack, one of the many magazine freebies I'm trying to use up. The card base and die-cuts are done in white Centura Pearl, which has a lovely subtle sheen. I used Spellbinders: the label is from the A2 Filigree Delight set, and I added 2 small pearls; and the corner is from Parisian Accents. I silver embossed the sentiment, which is by Penny Black. A very simple card - but my craft hovel is a disaster! Boxes of paper pads, several Spellbinders packets, my Grand Calibur and all its plates, left-over bits of card.... You name it, it's there on the bed!!! After we've eaten I'll be tidying up! Thanks for looking, my lovelies! I will be back tomorrow with my DT cards for The Squirrel and the Fox and Dream Valley I hope you'r

Another card for a bloke!

Hello, my dearios! Firstly, welcome to my new followers! I hope very much that you enjoy this erratic, sometimes crazy blog! xx We had good news this morning: my daughter had a 3-month check-up today and her cancer is still in full remission! She is so lively now, back to what she was like before the Hodgkins' Lymphoma struck. So we opened a bottle of wine this evening to celebrate, and I may possibly be a wee bit tiddly. Please excuse any misprints in my post! On to the card! This was made for my hubby's BFF, who turned 60 at the weekend. I went with a CAS look. The card base is Neenah Desert Storm Kraft card (my Christmas present to me was a subscription to Simon Says Stamp Monthly Card Kits and the card came with one of them.) I rounded the corners with the We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper, I do love that bit of kit! The background striped paper is a snippet from the Nitwits Tour of London collection . I embossed a snippet of blue Core'dinations with the Cutt

2 Sympathy Cards :(

Sadly I have had to make two more Sympathy cards, both for two lovely ladies at Church. It's very simply made, with some paper from a Papermania Capsule Collection called 'Heather' as a background. The diecuts are by Tattered Lace and came with the 2nd edition of the Tattered Lace Magazine, and I used White Centura Pearl to cut them. They are glued directly onto the purple paper. I cut and embossed a frame, which is on foam pads, and so is the Spellbinders Tag. I added 2 small gems, coloured purple with a Promarker, and the bow is made with ribbon from stash. The second is smaller, made with Spellbinders Labels One dies. Again I used paper from the same pack, but used the Spellbinders/Our Daily Bread Quatrefoil die. The label is from the Parisian Accents set, and has little gems also coloured with a purple Promarker. The ribbon (which is purple irl) is from my stash. Again the frame is embossed and raised on foam pads. Unfortunately I can't recall where
